WWE To Sign Another Free Agent
Following the signing of Dragon Lee, it has emerged that WWE is on the cusp of signing yet another free agent from the independent scene.
According to a report from Cassidy Haynes Bodyslam.net, Colby Corino’s contract with NWA expired at the end of December 2022 and he will be a free agent as of January 1st. The company’s final television tapings of the year are taking place on December 5th and 6th, and Corino is not expected to compete for the company again once the set of tapings is complete.
The report continued by saying that once Colby Corino is officially a free agent, he is expected to travel to Orlando to spend time at the WWE Performance Center, where the company will take an in-depth look at him. If everything goes well, he is expected to sign with the company and report to NXT.
Now that looks like it will happen as Fightful Select has followed up on that original report and noted that “[Colby] Corino is headed to WWE.” It is still unknown if he has signed a contract with WWE or when he will start with the company.
The 26-year-old second-generation star is best known for his time in the NWA and last appeared for the company on the NWA Powerrr show that aired on the 3rd of January 2023 when he teamed with Joe Alonzo and Odinson in a defeat against the trio of Thrillbilly Silas, Carnage, and EC3.
Dragon Lee announced that he was signing with WWE and headed to NXT after he and Dralistico defeated AEW’s FTR for the AAA Tag Team Championship at the end of December.
