WWE To Launch New Show In Spring 2024
A new WWE show is on the way.
Back in December, WWE presented two matches before SmackDown went on the air under the “WWE Speed” banner. The matches featured stars from across the entire roster and had a five-minute timer running alongside the frantic action in the ring.
In these first trial matches, Bronson Reed defeated NXT star Nathan Frazer in a very quick bout while Cedric Alexander – who remains a free agent in WWE – faced off with Axiom of NXT.
At the time it was unclear whether the concept would lead to anything, but it’s now been announced that WWE Speed is on the way.
During the special WrestleMania Kick-Off event in Las Vegas, it was revealed that the new series will debut in partnership with X (Formerly Twitter) in Spring 2024.
WWE Lays Chaotic Table For WrestleMania 40
At the hugely publicised press conference, Roman Reigns, The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins all came face to face. In an emotionally charged atmosphere, The Rock was heavily booed as all four men traded insults before the whole thing almost ended in a huge brawl.
Reigns and Rollins began the sniping before the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion announced that he’d be facing The Rock at WrestleMania. With the match seemingly made, Rhodes had seen enough and entered to a huge ovation, calling the situation “bullsh*t.” The American Nightmare then announced he would be facing Reigns at the spectacular.
This sparked the slinging of more insults between the pair, but it was Rhodes who upped the ante with a line about the Anoa’i family. At this, an incensed People’s Champion got in Rhodes’ face and slapped him, leading to a wild melee before everyone was separated.
However, the bad feeling continued backstage with The Rock threatening Triple H, telling him to “fix this.”
