WWE Holds Talks With Mayor Of London Over UK WrestleMania

WWE bosses Triple H and Nick Khan with Sadiq Khan

A WWE WrestleMania in the United Kingdom might have just moved a huge step closer.

WWE has a lengthy history with the United Kingdom, but things might soon go to an exciting new level. After Mayor of London Sadiq Khan went public with his desire to bring WrestleMania to the city back in April, there have now official talks between the two parties.

In response to the calls from Khan, Triple H said he was willing to talk, and it seems The Game is a man of his word.

It’s been confirmed by WWE that Triple H and company President Nick Khan met Sadiq Khan at London’s City Hall to discuss their “shared ambition” to hold WrestleMania in London. The Mayor later described the talks as “productive,” adding it was exciting to be working with the sports entertainment giant.

“I am delighted to have met with WWE Hall of Famer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan today to discuss how we can work to make London WrestleMania’s first international destination.“

London has great pedigree in hosting the biggest international sporting events from around the globe – and I’m determined to cement our city’s reputation as the undisputed sports capital of the world, as we work together for a better London for everyone.”

“It’s exciting to be working with the WWE team. The meeting was really productive, and talks will continue about how we could turn our ambition into a reality.”

WWE Bosses Comment On “Shared Ambition”

The talks have come as a surprise to many after Nick Khan had previously hinted that WrestleMania wouldn’t be leaving North America. However, after the talks in London, he said that while there was much to discuss, the company shared the ambition of Mayor Khan to bring an event to London.

“Sadiq Khan and his team are working hard on positioning London as a sport and entertainment capital of Europe and it has been great to hear more on his vision for how WWE can support them on that journey. WrestleMania has delivered more than $1.25 billion in economic impact for its host cities, with this year’s event in Philadelphia attracting over 145,000 fans from 64 countries. There is a lot that needs to be discussed further but we share the ambition of Mayor Khan in trying to bring a stand-out WWE Premium Live event to London.”

Triple H went on to reflect on the shared history between WWE and London, adding the excitement from Mayor Khan and his team is “palpable.”

“WWE and London have a long and successful history dating back many decades, and meeting with Sadiq Khan to discuss what the future of this partnership could bring has been excellent. This year alone WWE has taken record-breaking events around the world to Australia, France, Scotland, Saudi Arabia and Canada – the appetite from the fans is there, and the excitement from the Mayor and his team in London is palpable.”

WWE has been holding events in the United Kingdom since 1989. SummerSlam 1992 remains one of the most famous events in company history after the British Bulldog scored an emotional victory over Bret Hart in the main event.

In more recent years, WWE returned to the UK for Clash at the Castle in Wales in 2022, Money In The Bank in London in 2023, and Clash at the Castle: Scotland in Glasgow in June 2024.
