WWE Paying For Upcoming Surgery Of Released Former Champion
Ex-WWE star Ridge Holland, real name Luke Menzies, suffered a serious injury during a dark match back in September 2025, while wrestling Moose at a TNA taping in Edmonton.
It wasn’t just some small sprain; he tore the ligament that holds the mid-foot together, called a Lisfranc injury, which required surgery, putting him out for around seven months. This injury alone was rough, but that wasn’t the whole story.
On top of this, the former NXT Tag Team Champion Holland had been battling a neck issue for a while, which got worse during the foot injury downtime. Doctors diagnosed him with a bad neck condition, and now he’s set to undergo neck fusion surgery.
It was recently reported that WWE didn’t renew his contract, and he was released on November 5, right before his contract expiration date. There was drama around his medical bills, and even a GoFundMe launched by a family member to help out, but Ridge Holland clarified it was without his permission and removed it.
Good News For Ex-WWE Star Ridge Holland
Holland was all on his own after the Stamford-based company released him. But thankfully, the company has stepped up and agreed to cover his neck surgery, as per a latest report from WrestleVotes on X (Twitter).
WrestleVotes reported, “Luke Menzies [Ridge Holland] says on Busted Open just now WWE is paying for his upcoming neck fusion surgery – that will have him out of action until at least May.”

This surgery will keep him out until at least May 2026, meaning a long road ahead before he can think about stepping back into the ring. Ridge Holland is doing what he can with physical therapy and recovery close to home in Florida and remains hopeful about his eventual comeback.
The last time Holland was seen on WWE TV was on the May 6 edition of NXT when he participated in the #1 Contendership Battle Royal for the WWE NXT Title, which Myles Borne won.
