WWE Star Wants To Slap John Cena

John Cena WWE Talk

Another WWE star has taken a shot at John Cena.

John Cena is just a few short months from beginning his retirement tour as he looks to thank fans for more than two decades of support.

Cena announced his retirement plans at Money In The Bank, and he’s scheduled to appear on between 35-40 shows before he finally ends his career in late 2025.

Since then, just about everyone has made a pitch to retire the veteran, or share the ring with him one more time. This included a challenge from Bron Breakker, where he told Cena to “grow some balls.”

During an appearance on the UpUpDownDown Instagram account, Grayson Waller has now thrown his hat into the ring. The pair do have a history going back to Money In The Bank 2023 where Cena left Waller laid out in the ring after the Aussie star interrupted his promo calling for WrestleMania to be held in the UK.

“I want to slap John in the face like I’ve been wanting it for so long. I’m going to get it, John. I’m going to keep saying mean things until you say yes. He said 40 shows like come on, give me Poughkeepsie or something. You don’t have to give one of the big towns. I’m fine with that.”

John Cena Won’t Face Wrestling Royalty

While the great and the good of pro wrestling have been lining up for one more match with Cena, it seems the veteran won’t find himself in a dream match with Hiroshi Tanahashi.

NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi has announced he’ll be retiring after Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th, 2026. The Ace has enjoyed a glittering career, earning a reputation as one of the biggest stars Japanese wrestling has ever seen.

As Tanahashi came to personify NJPW, Cena took on the same status in WWE as he dominated the main event scene as the heroes of the Attitude Era gradually faded away.

Despite hopes from some fans that Cena and Tanahashi could meet in a special bout as part of their respective retirement tours, a recent report poured cold water on the idea. The report noted that although nothing is impossible, a match involving the pair is “very unlikely.”
