WWE Star Received Death Threats Following Becky Lynch Storyline

Becky Lynch

A Vince McMahon booking idea left one WWE star on the receiving end of death threats after attacking Becky Lynch.

At Extreme Rules in 2019, Baron Corbin teamed with Lacey Evans to take on Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The clash was set up after Evans tried to cost Rollins the Universal Title in a match against Corbin at Stomping Grounds while serving as the special guest referee — at the behest of Corbin.

When Evans got physically involved in the match, Lynch ran in to help Rollins. Lynch had retained her Raw Women’s Title against Evans earlier that night.

In the closing stages of the match at Extreme Rules, Corbin laid out Lynch with the End of Days. While Rollins quickly got his revenge on Corbin and won the match, the former King of the Ring received death threats in the wake of the show.

Speaking during a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Corbin revealed the spot was Vince McMahon’s idea.

“And that was Vince’s idea. I was shocked when I got to the building. And it was in Philly, which I knew they were gonna go nuts for. That was Vince’s idea. And it was just like, what? Like, it’s crazy. And like the death threats after were all worth it. Totally worth it. Oh, dude, you have no idea.

My Instagram messages and Twitter and all of those things. People were like, dude, I’m gonna stab you the next time I see you for what you did to Becky. I mean, if I get stabbed? Yeah, if I get stabbed? Yeah, definitely arrest that guy.

But like, Yeah, cause people, man like people buy into what we do. Like, that’s the art of what we do. Can we suspend disbelief? Can we make people think what we’re doing is 100% real and that people bought into that moment? They’re like, a grown man put his hands on a woman. I want to fight that guy. Like invoked this rage and people. And it was awesome.”

Becky Lynch Proud Of NXT Run

Becky Lynch won the NXT Women’s Title back in September, defeating Tiffany Stratton. She went on to retain the gold in a rematch, while also clashing with the likes of Tegan Nox and Indi Hartwell.

However, her run with the title came to an end at Halloween Havoc when she was pinned by Lyra Valkyria. Following the loss, Lynch praised Valkyria, commenting that the future was bright, adding she was proud of what she achieved as champion.
