WWE Star Gives Thoughts On Forming A New Hurt Business

A rising star in WWE has addressed the possibility of joining a new version of The Hurt Business stable.

During the “Pandemic Era” of WWE for most of 2020 into the first half of 2021 when shows were taking place in the Thunderdome environment with no fans at the show, The Hurt Business was a very successful group on the Raw brand.

The leader of the group was Bobby Lashley, who had reigns as the US Champion and WWE Champion while The Hurt Business was together. They also had the Raw Tag Team Championship team of Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander in the group.

Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) was the mastermind of the group that served as a manager/mentor who sometimes wrestled as well. Eventually, the group fell apart.

Carmelo Hayes has been one of the biggest stars on the NXT brand over the last two and a half years with an NXT Title reign and two NXT North American Title reigns to his credit. While talking to Vibe, Hayes was asked about joining a new version of The Hurt Business group.

“Shoot, that’d be cool. Right now I’m so focused on what I got going on here in NXT. It’s going to take a lot more than just showing up and dapping me up to get me over there. I’m not thirsty for any membership. If they want me, they can holler at me and we can talk business. Respect to them [,though,] because they’re my brothers for real.”

The Hurt Business Leader Bobby Lashley Has New Group On SmackDown

In the second half of 2023, The Hurt Business leader Bobby Lashley has been spending a lot of time with The Street Profits tag team of Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins. Lashley got them custom-made suits, which made people think of The Hurt Business group that used to wear suits a lot. However, WWE hasn’t given Lashley’s group a name yet.

There was an instance on Smackdown where Lashley was shown talking to Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, but there is no word on whether WWE is planning on putting them in the group.

Back in February 2023, MVP claimed he was trying to put The Hurt Business back together. That was over ten months ago and it doesn’t appear like it is happening any time soon. One member of the group, Shelton Benjamin, was released while Alexander doesn’t get a lot of TV time.
