Current WWE Star Confirms Divorce Was Not A Work

WWE star Rusev confirms that his divorce from wife, Lana (aka CJ Perry), was not a work.

Rusev and Lana first became a couple backstage in WWE NXT. Their relationship slowly blossomed from working together closely in WWE, where they spent a lot of time together. Their connection deepened naturally as they traveled and performed side by side, eventually leading to dating and later marriage in July 2016.

Their chemistry was also reflected on-screen, where they played a dominant couple and Russian heel characters.​ However, Rusev and Lana’s marriage started facing strains over time. By late 2023, after about seven years together, they officially separated.

According to reports and interviews, there was no dramatic fight or cheating involved. They simply grew apart, both personally and professionally. Despite the separation, they have maintained a friendly relationship and were reunited in 2023.

WWE legend Lana recently launched her new podcast, Identity Crisis, with Hollywood producer and co-host Jonathan Saba. The first guest on her show was her husband, Rusev. During their conversation, Saba asked the couple if their divorce was a work, to which Rusev replied a solid “no.”

Jonathan Saba: The divorce. Was it a work?.

Rusev: No. Do you think it was a work?
