Update On How WWE Plans To Address Seth Rollins Injury, More Details Emerge
Seth Rollins is dealing with a freakin’ injury and an update has been given on how it might be addressed on WWE television.
Since May 2023, Seth Rollins has been the World Heavyweight Champion on the Raw brand and has defended his championship against all comers. In addition to wrestling many times on television during his eight-month championship reign, Rollins also works a full schedule that includes WWE live events.
Sadly, Rollins suffered a knee injury on the January 15th edition of Raw when he defended the World Championship against Jinder Mahal. It appears as though the injury happened when Rollins did a Lionsault (or quebrada), which is a moonsault off the middle ropes. It’s a move that Chris Jericho popularized over the last 30 years.
After Rollins hit the move, he grabbed his knee. He would go on to wrestle for a few more minutes and beat Mahal with The Stomp to retain the World Heavyweight Title.
In the days that followed, there hasn’t been a definitive update on how Rollins is doing. Wade Keller of the PWTorch noted that if Rollins was fine and avoided a major injury then that news likely would be out there already.
“Connecting some dots, I am thinking it’s not good news but I don’t know how bad the news is. The reason for that is, I’ve asked a bunch of people and some of whom would likely be privy to what’s going on who won’t comment. I understand there’s internal policies on that. But I would think if he was fine and he ‘walked it off’ [then] we’d be hearing that.”
There is a bit of an update from the Wrestlevotes account on Twitter/X that often provides accurate backstage news.
I’m told the plan of as now is for Seth Rollins to address his health & future as World Heavyweight Champion this Monday night on RAW.

Over the last couple of weeks, multiple WWE stars have suffered torn ACL injuries including Charlotte Flair and NXT’s Cora Jade. It’s a reminder that pro wrestling isn’t easy and injuries can happen at any time.
If it’s a torn ACL, that is something that Rollins has suffered in the past in November 2015 during his first reign as the WWE Champion.
UPDATE:Fightful Select reports that Rollins told people backstage that he didn’t think he’d sustained an ACL tear. Fightful adds that people within WWE and sources have stated that he sustained a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus. That’s better than an ACL tear. There is a hope that Rollins will be able to avoid surgery. It’s not yet known how WWE will address it on television.
Seth Rollins Was Likely Set For A WrestleMania 40 Match With CM Punk
While Seth Rollins wasn’t advertised for a match at the upcoming Royal Rumble PLE on January 27th, the expectation has been that Rollins would face CM Punk at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. When Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series, Rollins was visibly angry about it and WWE ended 2023 by pushing the Rollins-Punk story.
It was confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that Seth Rollins facing CM Punk was the confirmed World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania 40.
In addition to that, WWE has pulled Seth Rollins from upcoming live events.
