WWE Partners Set To Face Off

There could be trouble ahead for one WWE faction.

A huge night of SmackDown saw the LWO take to the ring where US Champion Rey Mysterio ended up being challenged for the gold by Santos Escobar. Mysterio had taken Escobar’s place in a title match against Austin Theory which led to the WWE Hall of Famer winning the gold and now Escobar wants his shot.

The exchange between teammates was respectful with Mysterio accepting the challenge and the two men shaking hands. They were then interrupted by Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits who were in no mood to show respect.

The exchange between groups ended in The Street Profits taking on and defeating the LWO’s Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro. After the bout, Lashley encouraged Angelo Dawkins to attack Mysterio which he was only so happy to do.

No date has been set for the Mysterio/Escobar match but the next WWE premium live event and the first of the TKO era takes place on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 when Fastlane emanates from Indianapolis.

What else happened on WWE SmackDown?

The biggest news coming out of SmackDown in Denver was the return of The Rock to WWE television. The Rock joined Pat McAfee in a showdown with Austin Theory which saw The Great One nail the People’s Elbow.

Backstage, McAfee and The Rock were talking when John Cena approached and had a stare-down with his two-time WrestleMania opponent before they embraced.
