WWE Making Plans For Absent AEW Star

Another popular AEW star could be heading to WWE very soon.

On January 6, Penta finally arrived on WWE television, beating Chad Gable on Monday Night Raw. Since then, he’s established himself as one of the most popular stars on Monday night, and it seems he’ll soon be joined by a familiar face.

It’s no secret that Rey Fenix also wants to leave AEW, but his situation has so far gone unresolved. Despite his unhappiness, time was added to Fenix’s contract in 2024 due to injury, and Tony Khan appears to have little interest in using him on television.

However, it was recently claimed that Rey Fenix was in talks with Tony Khan to try and facilitate his exit. Although there’s been no word on how those talks have progressed, WWE is keeping a keen eye on the situation.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is already making plans for Fenix, even though he’s yet to be released from his contract.

They are making plans for Rey Fenix although there has been no confirmation Fenix has been released from his AEW contract.

AEW Unmoved By Tony Khan Taunts

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that AEW figures are unconcerned by the taunts aimed at Tony Khan during NXT.

On the February 25 edition of NXT, Ricky Saints — formerly Starks– made his in-ring debut teaming with Je’Von Evans to beat Ethan Page and Wes Lee. During the match, there were loud and very noticeable “Tony fumbled” chants aimed at Tony Khan.

However, according to the report, AEW doesn’t “give a f*ck” about the chants or the fan reaction.

Prior to being released from his All Elite deal in February, Starks had been on the sidelines for 11 months, despite repeatedly claiming he wanted to return to work.
