WWE Making More Changes To Raw And SmackDown

Triple H WWE SmackDown

More changes are coming to WWE television.

On January 6th, WWE Raw will debut on Netflix as the blockbuster new deal between the sports entertainment giant and streaming platform kicks into gear.

While there have been rumours around appearances from the likes of The Rock, Shawn Michaels, and even Stone Cold Steve Austin, it’s been confirmed that John Cena will be on hand to kick off his retirement tour.

Meanwhile, in the ring, Roman Reigns will face Solo Sikoa in Tribal Combat, CM Punk finally meets Seth Rollins, and Rhea Ripley will look to demolish Liv Morgan and take the Women’s World Championship. Logan Paul will also be on hand as he relaunches his WWE career as part of the red brand.

The show is set to receive a new theme song and logo, while Michael Cole and Pat McAfee will be calling the action with Joe Tessitore moving to SmackDown. But that isn’t the end of the shake-up.

WWE To Make Announcer Switch

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Lilian Garcia will be moving to SmackDown and Alicia Taylor will be on ring announcing duty on Raw, starting on January 6th.

Garcia made her return to WWE in October following Samantha Irvin’s shock departure. The fan favourite previously worked for the company between 1999 and 2009, and then from 2011 until 2016, although she continued to make special appearances up until her full-time return.

Despite finding fame in the role, Samantha Irvin later admitted she never liked announcing and is unlikely to ever return to wrestling.
