WWE Makes Another Surprise Name Change

Shawn Michaels Triple H WWE NXT

Another generational name was not safe from being changed by the powers that be in WWE as a fourth-generation star made their NXT TV debut.

Brogan Finlay joined WWE following a tryout in September 2023 becoming the latest member of his legendary wrestling family to do so. Finlay’s father is the legendary Fit Finlay who made his name in the United States as part of WCW before a career renaissance in the 2000s as a member of the WWE roster that famously loved to fight.

The 21-year-old’s brother is current NJPW star David Finlay and Brogan teamed with his brother on a NJPW STRONG show back in 2021.

Brogan Finlay Debuts With New WWE Name

Finlay made his in-ring NXT debut on a live event in February 2024 as WWE reignited a generational rivalry as he faced William Regal’s son Charlie Dempsey.

Now Brogan Finlay has made it to TV on NXT Roadblock but he is now known in the company as Uriah Connors. Under this name, he faced Shawn Spears one week after the ex-AEW star made his shock return to WWE. Spears picked up a quick win over Connors before he was confronted by Ridge Holland who Spears took out with a chair on his comeback.

Finlay’s name change is in line with that of SmackDown’s newest star Bron Breakker. Breakker is acknowledged as the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner but was not allowed to wrestle under the Steiner name in the company.
