Old WCW Rivalry Reignited By New Generation In WWE

A rivalry between two wrestling legends that fought many times in WCW has been restarted in WWE NXT by their sons.

In the 1990s, two wrestlers who gained worldwide acclaim on the World Championship Wrestling roster were two tough European wrestlers named “Lord” Steven Regal and Fit Finlay.

During their time in WCW, Regal and Finlay were known for being tough guys who certainly showed that toughness in the ring as well. During their WCW careers, Regal won the WCW TV Title four times while Finlay held the WCW TV Title once.

By the time WWE bought WCW in 2001, Regal had already been in WWE for a few years while Finlay came over as well. Finlay has worked backstage in World Wrestling Entertainment for most of the last 20+ years, but he also wrestled for many years as well. Regal won the Intercontinental, European and Tag Team Titles in WWE while Finlay was a WWE US Champion as well.

Regal and Finlay were also aligned briefly on the Smackdown brand in the mid-2000s when they were part of King Booker’s Court.

The Sons Of Regal And Finlay Faced Off In WWE NXT

At a recent NXT live event in Tampa, there was a match between Charlie Dempsey of the No Quarter Catch Crew facing off against Brogan Finlay, who was wrestling in his first NXT match at the live event. Dempsey got the win in the match.

Dempsey is the son of WWE legend and current Vice President of Global Talent Development William Regal while Brogan Finlay is the son of Fit Finlay, who works as a Producer on the NXT brand.

There’s no word on when Brogan Finlay will make his TV debut while Dempsey remains a young star on the rise.
