A WWE veteran is heading to SmackDown.

On March 15th, SmackDown will come live from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. With WrestleMania just around the corner, every show matters and is sure to have implications for WWE’s biggest weekend of the year.

According to a new report, the show is also set to feature a surprise appearance from a WWE legend.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Jerry “The King” Lawler is set to appear on the show. Lawler is considered Memphis wrestling royalty going all the way back to the 1970s and 80s.

In early February 2023, Jerry Lawler suffered a stroke which badly affected his speech and effectively ended his in-ring career. Lawler had continued to make in-ring appearances until the month before his stroke despite being well into his 70s and having a history of serious health problems.

Since recovering from the stroke, Lawler has made occasional appearances for WWE, first on Raw in August and then on NXT in November.

“Lawler is scheduled to appear at Smackdown in Memphis on 3/15. He was doing an autograph show in New York on 3/16 but was called to do Smackdown and there was no way to get to New York from Memphis in time for the event”

It’s been confirmed that The Rock will again appear on SmackDown, while the “Rock Concert” could also make a crowd-pleasing return. Meanwhile, Bayley will look to get revenge on Dakota Kai after being betrayed by her former friend, and Rey Mysterio will be on the blue brand after recently making his return from injury.
