Backstage Reason WWE Is Keeping Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns Apart

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns were the main attractions at WrestleMania 39 and 40, as they feuded over the WWE Undisputed Championship.

At WrestleMania 39 in April 2023, The American Nightmare returned from injury, won the Royal Rumble, and challenged The Tribal Chief in a match that saw Reigns retain the title after interference from Solo Sikoa.

At WrestleMania 40 in April 2024, Rhodes battled against all odds to finally pin Roman Reigns and complete his American Dream. Talks of a third match are swirling everywhere, but no date is confirmed, and it’s not scheduled, with many in WWE wanting to save Cody and Roman’s next clash for a truly huge moment.

That said, on Raw this week, WWE announced Cody Rhodes as part of the Survivor Series WarGames match for November 29, 2025, but Roman Reigns was not mentioned at all.

Why WWE’s Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes Haven’t Been Seen Together Recently?

According to Self Made Pro, WWE is intentionally keeping them off-screen together so fans don’t get hyped for a rematch that isn’t happening yet. The company wants their next face-off to really mean something, so they’re holding back until the time and event are absolutely perfect.

“There are people within WWE that believe that somebody involved does not want Roman and Cody to be on the same screen unless they can tease a match that they’re going to deliver on. What does that mean? There is like either I can’t be on-screen with Cody or Cody can’t be on-screen with me. I said someone there is saying either, “I can’t be on-screen with Cody,” or vice versa, “I can’t be on-screen with Roman unless we get this match going.”

“There is just some concern there about that — about the idea of, do you really want to put them on screen, make the fans want to see that match again, and then we can’t do the match? And right now, Cody and Roman is not scheduled. There’s a lot of hurdles there.” [H/T Ringside News]
