WWE Confirms John Cena & AJ Lee for Huge 9/15 RAW

John Cena and AJ Lee will be present at RAW next week.

On the September 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Sami Zayn challenged John Cena for a one-on-one bout with his United States Championship on the line. It was Zayn’s way of honoring Cena’s legacy with the US title. The bout came to an abrupt end when Brock Lesnar made a surprise appearance and attacked Zayn first and then Cena with an F5, setting up a match between him and The Never Seen 17 at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.

Meanwhile, AJ Lee made her RAW return on the September 8 edition of WWE’s flagship show, where she confronted Becky Lynch with the Intercontinental Championship on her waist. The Man demanded that Lee give her back the title, but she dared her to take it back from her.

Lynch asked her husband, Seth Rollins, to retrieve the title for her, but his efforts were rendered useless by his arch-nemesis, CM Punk. Punk and Lee then challenged Rollins and Lynch for a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza.

Both Lee and Cena have huge matches set for WWE’s inaugural Wrestlepalooza event. But before the event, they’ll have a stop at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, for the September 15, 2025, edition of the Monday night show. WWE recently advertised both legends for the night. It was also revealed that Lyra Valkyria will take on Roxanne Perez in a single match on the same night.

Wrestlepalooza will mark AJ Lee’s return to the ring after 10 years, and WWE legend Bubba Ray wants WWE to book it in a certain way. Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, he said:

This is the easiest thing that they could possibly do, what I’m about to suggest. This is as 101 as pro wrestling gets. The only time AJ Lee gets in the ring is when she blows the comeback on Becky Lynch. That’s just easy. You make the people want it even more. You build to it. You build to it. You build to it, and then you pay it off, and there’s the hot tag, and AJ Lee comes in and she’s kicking a**.

And you keep it really simple because the people are so excited to see her that it doesn’t matter what she does as long as she’s beating up Becky. She doesn’t have to do Canadian destroyers.
