WWE Heel Praises John Cena For Helping Him Succeed
A current WWE heel has acknowledged John Cena’s contributions in his success.
Rusev was involved in a major feud with Cena in 2015, which saw them fight for the United States Championship on multiple occasions.
In November 2014, The Bulgarian Brute became the first wrestler from his country to win the WWE US title.
At Fastlane in February 2015, he successfully defended it for the first time against John Cena, but dropped the title in a rematch at WrestleMania 31.
That WrestleMania is also famous for Rusev’s entrance in a military tank with his wife Lana in front of around 75,000 people in the audience.
During a recent chat with VoxCatch, the 39-year-old recalled his rivalry with Cena.
I learned a lot from John Cena. You know, I got to wrestle him quite a bit throughout my years in WWE. And I owe a lot of my success to him, because I got to learn from him, wrestling him, beating him as well. So I’m always going to be thankful for that. [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]
Rusev Wants To End John Cena’s WWE Career
Rusev also intends to pay John Cena back for putting him over in WWE.
Although, his way is a bit trickier to initiate at the moment. Cena has a handful of dates remaining in his wrestling career before he retires in December.
During his interview, Rusev said that if given the opportunity, he would like to end the 17-time World Champion’s career.
He started my career, now I can end his, which [would] be very appropriate. And karma always strikes back at the end of the day.
Rusev returned to WWE on the RAW after WrestleMania and kicked off a feud with Sheamus. Recently, he secured a victory over the The Celtic Warrior at Clash in Paris PLE.
In other news, Rusev broke his silence over his AEW run.
