The John Report: WWE Clash In Paris 2025 Review

WWE Clash In Paris Review 2025

This is WWE Clash In Paris, featuring Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Jey Uso & LA Knight in a 4-way match, John Cena against Logan Paul, and more.

We are wrapping up the month of August with a second WWE PLE this month, following SummerSlam from the first weekend of August. It’s the first-ever WWE PLE taking place in Paris, but the second one in France since we saw Backlash 2024 in Lyon, and it was one of the best crowds ever. SmackDown was in Lyon this past Friday and they had a lot of energy too. I think this should be an amazing atmosphere in one of the most famous cities in the world.

The card is solid with six matches, but only one women’s match, which is a bit disappointing. I also think a lot of the matches are predictable in terms of the results, so hopefully there are some memorable moments to make it more interesting. I’ll be doing a bit of a hybrid review where I do more of a summary style review for the first two matches, and then play-by-play for the rest.

There was a two-hour Clash In Paris Countdown Show on WWE’s YouTube channel, but I don’t review those shows. I am watching on Netflix in Canada. Let’s get to the main show.

WWE Clash In Paris
From Paris La Défense Arena in Paris, France
Sunday, August 31, 2025

They showed the building with Michael Cole mentioning that there are over 30,000 fans at this show. Huge crowd.

There was pre-show superstar walking shown of Jey Uso, CM Punk, LA Knight, Seth Rollins with The Vision, Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, and Logan Paul.

A video package aired to start the show, hyping up the Clash in Paris event and the matches on the card.

They had an impressive pyro display to start the show. There was a huge stage with big screens and a giant Eiffel Tower as well. The arena looks massive, and it was very loud.

It’s Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary. It was Alicia Taylor on commentary. They had the French commentary team at ringside as well.

The entrance of Roman Reigns took a long time, as he walks very slowly, and he has that aura that accompanies his entrance. The fans were solidly behind him with “Roman, Roman Reigns” chants for him. Roman was wearing two Ula Fala’s around his neck, with Cole noting that Reigns was honoring his late father, Sika, and his late uncle, Afa. The fans kept chanting, “Roman, Roman Reigns” for him.

Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed (w/Paul Heyman)

The ring had the “Riyadh Season” logo in the center of it. After taking turns doing shoulder tackles, Reigns hit an uppercut punch, along with punches to the head. Reigns did the ten-punch combo and the fans chanted in French. Reigns tried to lift Reed on his shoulders, but Reed was too heavy and collapsed onto Roman’s back. Reed hit a cannonball. They left the ring where Reed gave Reigns a uranage slam on the French commentary table. Reed broke the ref’s count and then cleared off the French commentary table. Reigns came back with a punch, along with Reigns sending Reed into the ring post a few times. Reigns cleared the English commentary table, so Reed hit a clothesline on Reed on the floor. Back in the ring, Reigns kicked Reed and Reed hit a World’s Strongest Slam for two. The fans were chanting, “Simplement deux” which means it’s only a two count because a French announcer says it. Reed remained in control as he sent Reigns into the turnbuckle. After Reed applied a chinlock, Reigns broke free, and Reed hit an elbow smash. A long chinlock by Reed. Reigns hit some punches, but Reed came back with a Samoan Drop for two. Reigns punched Reed a few times, so Reed hit some headbutts and punches to keep Reigns down. Reed teased taking shoes off, but Reigns was able to kick Reed away. Reigns avoided a splash by Reed, which led to Reigns hitting multiple clotheslines, and Reigns did a running clothesline to send Reed over the top to the floor. Reigns sent Reed back in, and the fans were chanting “Roman, Roman Reigns” again.

They were back in the ring where Reigns went for a Superman Punch, but Reed hit a uranage and a senton splash for two. Reed superkicked Reigns out of the ring. Reed ran the ropes, Reigns hit him with a Superman Punch, and Reigns was back in the ring for another Superman Punch. Reed came back with a kick and a clothesline out of the ring. Reed hit a suicide dive on Reigns on the floor. That’s impressive for a big guy over 300 pounds. Reigns was able to make a comeback and hit a Samoan Drop. Reigns hit a Spear for the pinfall win. It went 22:05.

Winner by pinfall: Roman Reigns

Analysis: ***1/4 It was a solid match to give Reigns the win in a match that he was obviously going to win. Reed is a solid midcard heel, but he had no chance to win here. I know some people may have thought that Reed should win since he’s the younger guy and could use a win, but it didn’t feel like it would happen here. I don’t think it needed to be as long as it was, but Reigns is a top guy and he gets to have those kinds of long matches.

After the match, Reigns posed for the fans and then he went into the ring while Heyman was checking on Reed. Heyman turned around while he was wearing the sneakers around his neck. Heyman said he loved him and he acknowledged his Tribal Chief. Heyman tried to give Reigns his sneakers back, so Reigns applied a Guillotine Choke and Heyman tapped out.

Analysis: The Guillotine Choke is a way for Paul Heyman to “take a bump” without actually taking a bump because it’s just a submission move where Reigns barely applies a headlock on him.

Reigns got his shoes back and celebrated on the commentary table. Reigns signed the shoes and tossed them into the crowd as a gift for the fans. While Reigns was signing the shoes, Bron Breakker was on the other commentary table and Bron gave Reigns a Spear on the commentary table. Reigns was down selling on the table while they showed the singer Jelly Roll watching from the crowd. Breakker and Reed checked on Heyman. Reigns did a good job of selling the injury. Reed and Bron helped Heyman to the back.

When Reigns was in the aisle, Bron ran down to ringside and hit a Spear on Reigns again. I knew that was coming. It was an impressive Spear. Bron trash-talked Reigns, saying that Reigns was in his way. Reed tossed Reigns into the ring. Bron held Reigns and Reed went up top and hit a Tsunami splash on Reigns.

Analysis I figured a Reigns match with Bron Breakker was coming next and that attack sets it up.

Reigns was strapped to a backboard, so Reed went down to ringside again and Reed hit another Tsunami splash off the top rope. There were WWE officials and security around ringside. Jey Uso finally showed up to help Reigns. Jey superkicked Reed and Bron out of the ring. Jey checked on Reigns on the backboard. Bron went back into the ring and hit a Spear on Jey. There were more security guys in the ring while Raw GM Adam Pearce tried to get Bron and Reed out of there. It didn’t work because Reed went up top again and Reed hit another Tsunami on Reigns. Cole screamed: “You’re gonna kill him!” Cole was screaming about how Pearce and security had to get them out of there.

Roman Reigns was taken away on a stretcher while Jey Uso was there selling the Spear he took as they went to the back.

Analysis: That was a long post match attack. It just kept on going and going as a way to get heat on Bron and Reed for attacking Reigns like that. I assume the Reigns match with Breakker won’t be at Wrestlepalooza, and they’ll do it down the road.

There were commercials promoting WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20th, along with the Canelo/Crawford boxing fight on September 13th that TKO is promoting.

They showed singer Jelly Roll at ringside, along with rapper Post Malone. They are in Paris on tour together on Wednesday.

Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were yelled at by Raw GM Adam Pearce, who ejected both of them from the building. Pearce mentioned Reigns was going to the hospital. Pearce said if he sees them again, then he’ll suspend them with pay. Security escorted Bron and Reed out of there. Pearce was sweating a lot.

The entrances of The Street Profits and The Wyatt Sicks were next for their tag team match.

WWE Tag Team Championships: Wyatt Sicks – Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis (w/Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan & Nikki Cross) vs. The Street Profits – Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford (w/B-Fab)

On SmackDown this past week, Bo Dallas played mind games with Ford and Dawkins by wondering if they were really on the same page. Dawkins made Ford step back so that Dawkins could start the match. After Dawkins knocked Gacy down, Ford tagged himself in. The Profits worked together to clear the ring. Ford was sent off the apron and into the commentary table, so Ford was isolated by the champions. After a few minutes, Ford broke free and Dawkins hit a somersault dive onto both opponents. Dawkins took over on Gacy with a couple of clotheslines, and a corkscrew elbow. Dawkins hit a splash on Gacy and an enziguri kick. Dawkins hit a Swanton Bomb off the top on Gacy for a two count. When Ford tagged in, Dawkins launched Gacy and Ford hit a belly-to-back suplex for two. More “Simplement deux” chants after that. After Ford went up top, he was crotched up there. Dawkins made the tag, put Gacy on his shoulders, and Ford hit a top rope Blockbuster for two because Lumis made the save. Gacy got a rollup on Dawkins for two. Gacy hit a spinning elbow on Dawkins, but Dawkins came back with a spinebuster. Ford went for the Frog Splash, Gacy moved and Gacy slammed legal man Lumis on Ford. Dawkins tackled Gacy onto the pile to break up the pin.

After Gacy rolled out of the ring, Dawkins hit him with a Pounce that sent Gacy into the barricade. Dawkins faced off with Rowan, so Lumis sent Dawkins over the barricade. Ford hit the incredible somersault dive over the ring post onto Lumis and Rowan. Cross grabbed Ford’s leg while she was under the ring, and the referee never saw it as Howdy hit a Sister Abigail on Ford on the floor. Lumis and Gacy hit The Plague (suplex into a Powerbomb) on Ford for the pinfall win. It went 13:10.

Winners by pinfall: Wyatt Sicks – Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis

Analysis: ***1/4 It was an entertaining tag team match where both teams had moments to shine. It looked like The Profits might find a way to win, but then the Wyatt Sicks numbers advantage helped them pick up the victory as I expected. I like the story of the Profits having potential issues because when you have a story it’s more than just a match for the titles. These teams work well together.

After the match, they showed the Wyatt Sicks. There was no post-match interaction shown of The Street Profits.

The Becky Lynch-Nikki Bella video package aired to set up that match.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch vs. Nikki Bella

I understand trying to sell a match, but Wade Barrett saying Nikki Bella “dominated” the Divas Era was a big stretch. Lynch bailed from the ring, so Nikki kicked her in the left leg while Lynch was on the apron. On the floor, Lynch sent Nikki into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Lynch hit a leg drop off the middle ropes for two. Lynch was in control with a Bexploder Suplex. Nikki came back with punches and Lynch hit a clothesline for two. It sounded like the fans were chanting for Lynch and booing Nikki. Lynch grabbed Nikki in a headlock, and then Nikki backed Lynch into the turnbuckle, so Lynch hit a clothesline for two. Lynch charged, Nikki avoided it and Lynch hit the turnbuckle. Nikki and Lynch exchanged strikes. Nikki hit two clotheslines and a dropkick. Nikki dropkicked Lynch on the floor. Nikki sent Lynch into the commentary tables, but it didn’t look great because they shot it from an angle where you can see it was just Lynch’s hands hitting the table. Back in the ring, Nikki went for a jumping kick, but Lynch moved and Nikki hit the mat. I’m not sure if that was what they planned. The women were talking for a bit after that, so that tells me there was a bit of a mess up there. Lynch followed up with a reverse DDT. Nikki charged, Lynch sent her to the apron and Nikki hit a shoulder tackle to the ribs. Lynch battled Nikki by the turnbuckle, which led to Lynch hitting a superplex off the middle ropes. Lynch applied an armbar, so Nikki turned it over into a rollup for two. Nikki went for a submission, which drew boos by the fans. Nikki blocked a Lynch move and Nikki hit the Electric Chair Drop. Lynch with a snap spinebuster for a two count. Lynch did a necksnap across the top rope, Lynch kicked Nikki in the head and Lynch jumped off the top with nothing because Nikki moved. Nikki applied the Fearloss Lock submission and the fans were booing that even though Nikki is the face. The fans cheered when Lynch grabbed the rope to break the hold. They left the ring, which led to Lynch sending Nikki into the steel steps. Nikki sent Lynch’s head into the ring post and Nikki hit a Belly Buster on the steel steps.

Back in the ring, Nikki wanted a Rack Attack 2.0, but Lynch avoided that, so Nikki hit a Manhandle Slam on Lynch for two. Nikki applied a weak-looking Disarm-her, the fans booed it, and Lynch countered Nikki to send her into the turnbuckle. Lynch applied the dreaded backslide pin for the pinfall win. It went 13:07.

Winner by pinfall: Becky Lynch

Analysis: **3/4 The match was okay, but it had some sloppy moments. In this era of WWE, the women’s matches are usually better. The finish was done as a way to show that it can come out of nowhere sometimes, while Lynch is the type of talented wrestler who can beat people in multiple ways. Nikki only had that one good nearfall with the Manhandle Slam. I would have had Nikki get some more nearfalls in the match. The match did have a solid build, but the actual match itself could have been better structured.

A commercial aired promoting WWE-AAA Worlds Collide on Friday, September 12th.

They showed a clip of CM Punk from the WWE Unreal documentary on Netflix. It’s a great docuseries.

Jey Uso was shown icing his ribs. Adam Pearce asked Jey if he was ready for tonight, but Jey said that he was able to compete. Jey told Pearce that Roman Reigns told him to win the World Title. Jey said he’s going to bring home the World Heavyweight Championship.

A video package aired about the Sheamus/Rusev rivalry.

Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook Match: Sheamus vs. Rusev

It’s a match where anything goes, and it can end by pinfall or submission. Sheamus and Rusev exchanged strikes, with the fans showing love for Sheamus. Rusev sent Sheamus into the barricade. Sheamus and Receive each set up tables on the floor. Sheamus countered Rusev with a suplex on the floor. Sheamus sent Rusev into the barricade a few times. Sheamus got a shillelagh, but Rusev hit Sheamus with kendo stick shots to the body. Rusev beat up Sheamus with the kendo stick several times. Rusev set up Sheamus against the turnbuckle and hit Sheamus with forearms to the chest. Rusev exposed the top turnbuckle. Sheamus came back with a backbreaker. Sheamus worked over Rusev with kendo stick shots to the body. Sheamus ran over Rusev with a kendo stick shot. Sheamus brought three chairs into the ring. Rusev ran the topes and hit a jumping heel hick for just a one count. Rusev hit Sheamus with a chair to the back. Rusev worked over Sheamus with more chair shots to the body. Rusev wedged the chair to the turnbuckle. Rusev kicked Sheamus a few times, so Sheamus yelled, “Come on” and Rusev tried a chair shot, but Sheamus blocked that. Sheamus hit a jumping knee to the jaw for two. Sheamus worked over Rusev with the 10 Beats of the Bodhran by the ropes, and the fans were chanting along for it. Sheamus did a few extra shots. There was a bar setup on the floor, so Rusev sent Sheamus over the bar and crashed into the barricade. Sheamus punched Rusev and worked over Rusev with more forearms to the chest. Sheamus used a shillelagh to hit Rusev in the chest repeatedly with the shillelagh. They were back in the ring, where Sheamus went for White Noise, Rusev avoided that, and Sheamus sent Rusev into the chair that was against the turnbuckle. Sheamus gave Rusev the Celtic Cross for a two count. Sheamus pounded his chest, Rusev got back up and Sheamus charged, but Rusev bailed to the floor. Sheamus went up top and jumped off, but Rusev hit Sheamus with a kendo stick to the body. Rusev sent Sheamus hard into the steel steps. Rusev hit Sheamus with the steps to the face. Rusev gave Sheamus a uranage slam through the bar, so I was a bump through the wood that supported the bar.

Rusev was in control in the ring as he kicked Sheamus in the back and applied The Accolade. Sheamus managed to get back to his feet and Sheamus hit a backpack slam onto the chair that was in the ring. The fans were chanting, “This is awesome” for them. Sheamus sent Rusev over the barricade at ringside. There were some barrels stacked at ringside, which led to Rusev tripping Sheamus by the barrels. Rusev applied the Accolade submission on the barrels. Sheamus got out of that, picked up Rusev on his back and Sheamus gave Rusev the White Noise slam off the barrels and through the two tables that were set up on the floor. That drew a huge reaction from the fans. Sheamus had visible scarring all over his body, and Rusev had a big red mark on his back, too. Rusev crawled to the corner where the shillelagh was. Sheamus got back to his feet on the other side, Sheamus charged and Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick for one…two…no! Rusev got just a two count by getting his left shoulder up. The fans were stunned that it wasn’t the end of the match. Wade put over how perfect that Brogue Kick looked. Sheamus went back to his feet, Rusev hit a Machka Kick, Sheamus hit a knee to the face and Rusev hit a back body drop to counter a charge. Rusev hit a Machka Kick. Rusev hit Sheamus in the back with the shillelagh. Rusev only got a two count out of that. Rusev put the shillelagh in the mouth of Sheamus and applied The Accolade submission. Sheamus tapped out to give Rusev the win at 20:08.

Winner by pinfall: Rusev

Analysis: **** I thought it was an excellent match that was likely one of the best matches Rusev ever had in WWE. For Sheamus, he has had better matches, but this might be his best match this year. This was a violent brawl with weapons throughout the match and a weapon was used to assist Rusev for the finish. I thought Sheamus was going to win with the Brogue Kick, and the fans did too, because they were shocked when Rusev kicked out. This win put over Rusev in a big way and it reminded us that they are two of the toughest guys in WWE. Great match for a grudge match between two WWE veterans.

There was a commercial for WWE Wrestlepalooza on September, which is the start of WWE PLEs on ESPN for those of you in the US.

There is a WWE Road to Europe 2026 European tour in January before the Royal Rumble. There will be two episodes of Raw and SmackDown, along with some live events.

A graphic was shown saying that John Cena has 98 wins in Premium Live Events. The Undertaker has the most with 107, Triple H is third at 92 and Randy Orton has 81.

There are two matches left, so there was a video package to set up the John Cena-Logan Paul match.

Logan Paul made his entrance first and he was booed heavily by the crowd. The announcers put it over as one of the biggest matches in Paul’s career.

John Cena got a huge ovation for his final match in Paris. The fans absolutely exploded when the music hit. It’s hard to rank the sound of a crowd, but it was a massive reaction for the legendary Cena. Cena held up the towel to the camera, followed by his customary run down the aisle and Cena was cheered heavily in the ring. The fans were singing Cena’s legendary theme song as well. Cena called for the special introduction. Alicia Taylor did the honors, saying, “From West Newbury, Massachusetts, weighing in at 251 pounds, he is the greatest of all time. The never 17, celebrating with each and every one of you tonight in Paris one final time, the last real champion…John Cena.” The fans were loud for all of that.

Analysis: That was a lot of fun to watch. I’m enjoying this final run of Cena and it felt like a big deal just to see that introduction. The fans are insanely loud as well, so that always helps.

Logan Paul vs. John Cena

It was Paul in control early on with some punches to the body. Cena came back with the ten punch combo by the turnbuckle, followed by a monkey flip, but Paul landed on his feet. Paul hit a boot to the head to knock Cena down. Paul hit an uppercut to knock Cena down. Cena avoided an uppercut, leading to a clothesline. Cena punched Paul, who came back with a kick and Paul hit a Blockbuster for two. Paul gave Cena a delayed vertical suplex for two. Paul grabbed a chinlock, so the fans got into a song to support Cena, and Paul hit a gutwrench suplex for two. Paul hit a running uppercut on Cena while Cole said that was “Cesaro” like uppercut. Paul hit another running uppercut. Cena lunched at Paul with a running clothesline, so both guys were down selling. Cena bounced off the ropes with shoulder tackles and a spinning slam. Cena hit a Five Knuckle Shuffle on Paul. Cena went for a lift, but Paul went to the apron and Paul hit his version of a Buckshot Lariat for a two count. Paul went up top, took way too long, he went for a Frog Splash, but Cena got his knees up. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment for just two. Paul got back into it with the Octopus submission hold. Cena got out of it and Paul did a sunset flip for two. Cena applied the STF, Paul nearly tapped out, but he got to the ropes. Cena jumped off the turnbuckle with a Tornado DDT for two. Cena went for an AA again, but Paul countered and Paul hit a reverse release Powerbomb for a two count. Cena ran the ropes and hit the two shoulder tackles. Paul countered another move, which led to Paul hitting a Zig Zag for two. Paul went for a Buckshot Lariat again, but Cena was ready with a spinning slam.

Cena put Paul on his back, Paul went to the apron and Paul hit a necksnap on the top rope. Paul went up top and hit a Swanton Bomb, followed by a standing moonsault for two. Paul charged with a running uppercut. Cena avoided a move, Cena hit a double underhook sitout slam for a two count. That’s not a regular move for Cena, but it looked pretty good. They stood in the ring and exchanged strikes. Cena ran the ropes, Paul hit a popup uppercut and that got a two count. There’s Paul hitting another Cesaro/Claudio move. Paul had some light blood on his face, perhaps from a bloody nose. Paul hit two shoulder tackles and a spinning slam as the fans booed. The fans booed loudly as Paul teased a “You Can’t See Me” so Cena got back up to his feet and Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment again for just a two count because Paul got his left arm up. Cena was calling spots talking to Paul, so Wade covered by calling it “trash talking” from Cena. Paul and Cena exchanged strikes, Cena did headbutts into his own hands and then Paul caught Cena, so Cena hit a hurricanrana. Cena hit a rare Code Red for a two count. Paul connected with the dreaded right hand punch to the jaw for a two count. Paul went up top, took way too long and hit the Paul from Grace Frog Splash off the top. Paul hit another Paul from Grace off the top for a two count. That is a finishing move for Paul, but Cena was able to kick out.

Paul went for You Can’t See Me again and this time he hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle fist drop. Paul went for an AA, but Cena rolled through and Cena hit a Styles Clash for a two count. Great spot. Cena’s rivalry with AJ Styles was incredible. The fans were going crazy with the chanting. Cena set up Paul on the turnbuckle, Cena teased a move off the ropes and Paul knocked Cena down. Cena caught a leaping Paul, Cena rolled through and Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment. Cena went for another one. Paul with a punch to the jaw, Cena ducked another punch attempt and Cena hit another Attitude Adjustment for the pinfall win. The match went about 26 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: John Cena

Analysis: ****1/2 That was an outstanding match as John Cena put on a classic performance that he has done many times over the last 20+ years and Logan Paul certainly did his part to deliver a memorable match. The Attitude Adjustment was used many times throughout the match. Paul kept kicking out of it, but then Cena found a way to get the win. I liked the match a lot. The announcers put it over as an epic match, and it was very entertaining most of the way, so I enjoyed it a lot. That’s two excellent matches from Cena this month, since he had that excellent match with Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam too. Big Match John is coming up big.

John Cena celebrated the win while the fans were going crazy for him. They were going wild for Cena as he did his posing. The Cena fan from Belgium was at ringside, so Cena hugged him and said we are back. Cena also kissed his wife, Shay, at ringside. Cena hugged Jelly Roll and Post Malone at ringside. Cena kept celebrating in the ring, and the fans were cheering as the scene ended.

Analysis: Cool celebration. These Cena moments are ending soon, so enjoy them while they last. I’m glad to see Cena getting all that love from the fans.

They went to another commercial for WWE on ESPN for Wrestlepalooza. Why not show Cena leaving the ring and getting that big ovation? Strange cut.

Michael Cole spoke on camera, thanking Peacock for airing WWE main roster PLEs for the last five years. Cole mentioned NXT PLEs will remain on Peacock. They are also getting Saturday Night’s Main Event, but that wasn’t mentioned.

This Monday on Raw in Paris: Dominik Mysterio defends the Intercontinental Title against AJ Styles. The fans were singing the “Phenomenal” song for AJ Styles.

The WWE French announcer Phillippe Chereau announced the attendance: 30,343 people.

Jackie spoke to World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, who summed up the chaotic night for Seth’s allies. Rollins claimed he was already two steps ahead. Rollins said he’s all alone out there tonight. Rollins reminded us that he won the main event of WrestleMania, not Roman Reigns or CM Punk. Rollins said he has never needed anyone because he’s a multi-time World Champion and he is the greatest in-ring performer in the history of this industry. Rollins went over his nicknames and said his name. Rollins said if he can’t keep this title by himself, then maybe he doesn’t deserve to be champion.

It was main event time, so there was a video package to set it up, along with long entrances for everybody.

I didn’t watch the video package or the introductions. They took a long time, obviously. I felt like stepping away for a break.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk vs. Jey Uso vs. LA Knight

The first fall wins. No disqualifications and no countouts in a 4-way match.

Jey sent Rollins out of the ring and then Punk hit Jey with a clothesline to stop his dive attempt. Jey had his ribs taped after taking a Spear earlier in the night. Punk did the “Get The Tables” bit with Jey like The Dudleys. The trio of Punk, Knight and Rollins set up a table on the floor. Punk sent Rollins back into the ring and Punk hit a top rope clothesline, followed by a neckbreaker. Punk hit a running knee, along with a clothesline. Jey kicked Punk and hit a step-up enziguri on Punk. Jey hit a hip attack on Rollins and for Punk too. It didn’t look great. Knight hit a slam off the shoulders on Jey. Punk hit a knee on Jey. Rollins hit a Pedigree on Punk and all four guys were down.

Rollins gave Knight a Buckle Bomb into the turnbuckle. Rollins went up top and hit a Frog Splash on Jey for a two count. It was a Rollins nearfall fest with three big moves in a row. Rollins stomped on Knight while he was against the turnbuckle. Knight came back with punches as the fans chanted “Yeah” for them. Knight ran the ropes and hit a running clothesline, along with a side Russian legsweep. Knight sent Jey into the turnbuckle and hit a neckbreaker. Knight hit a powerslam on Punk. Knight also hit a DDT on Rollins. Knight followed up with a top rope elbow on Rollins. Jey hit a superkick on Knight. Jey headbutted Rollins during their exchange by the turnbuckle. Punk stopped a Knight superplex and Punk did a Powerbomb in a Tower of Doom spot with Knight and Jey, so Punk got multiple two counts. Punk and Rollins exchanged holds on the apron while a table was on the floor below them. They each teased moves that were never going to happen. Rollins raked Punk’s eyes, and then Knight punched Punk in the back, so Punk bumped through the table on the floor. The table barely broke. Rollins hit a rollup on Knight for two. Knight hit a BFT on Rollins for two because Jey made the save.

Jey worked over Knight with punches, but Knight sent Jey out of the ring. Knight hit a running kick to send Jey crashing into the commentary table. Knight sent Jey into the commentary table. They shot it from the right angle by the side or the back. If you shoot it from the front, then you see the hands hitting the table. Knight did some head ramming on Jey and also on Rollins. Knight placed Rollins on top of the French commentary table. Knight went to the middle turnbuckle, teased jumping off and Jey was on the apron, so Knight kicked him. Knight went to the top rope, jumped off with an elbow drop and Rollins moved, so Knight went crashing through the French commentary table. It was an impressive leap, but it was a crash landing. Jey hit a suicide dive on Rollins on the floor. Jey and Rollins exchanged strikes, but then Rollins caught a charging Jey with a Pedigree for a two count. Rollins went up top, jumped off with a Phoenix Splash, Jey moved and Rollins landed on his feet. Jey hit two superkicks and a Spear. Jey jumped off the top and hit an Uso Splash. Jey covered, but Punk jumped off the top on the other side and hit an elbow drop on Jey. Punk gave Jey a GTS and Punk covered Jey so that Rollins could hit Punk with The Stomp. Rollins covered Punk for just a two count. Rollins said he hated Punk and his stupid family. Punk said he wants Punk to go away. Rollins saw Jey on the floor, so Rollins hit Jey with The Stomp on the floor. Rollins hit The Stomp on Knight on the broken commentary table as well. Rollins put Punk’s head on the steel chair, Punk moved and Rollins stomped the chair. Punk hit a GTS on Rollins, who bounced off the ropes to land on Seth’s back in a spot that Punk loves doing. Punk teased another GTS. Somebody in a black outfit and mask on went behind Punk and hit a low blow! It was Seth’s wife Becky Lynch. Rollins hit The Stomp on Punk on the steel chair, and Rollins covered Punk for the pinfall win. It went 24:31.

Winner by pinfall: Seth Rollins

Analysis: ***3/4 It was an entertaining four-way match with a lot of nearfalls throughout the match, as usual in a matchup like that. It was tough for me to get that excited about it because Rollins was obviously going to retain since he just won the title four weeks ago. It’s early in Seth’s reign, so that made it difficult to get into some of the nearfalls. I’m a bit surprised that Punk took the fall, as I figured it would be Jey or Knight, but I suppose it had to be this way, given the Lynch reveal’s help to Rollins. We know that Seth couldn’t get help from Reed, Breakker or Heyman, so it was his loving wife Lynch who was there for her husband in a time of need. Poor CM Punk gets screwed out of a win again. As for Jey and Knight, I think they made it a four-way because in that kind of match, there are no disqualifications, so Lynch doing a low blow isn’t illegal based on the rules. Rollins winning was very predictable, but the method in which he won was a bit of a surprise due to Lynch getting involved to help her husband.

Seth Rollins celebrated with the World Heavyweight Title and his wife Becky Lynch by his side. They showed some replays. Seth kissed Becky in the ring. Seth and Becky posed over a fallen CM Punk. That was the end of the show.

Analysis: This could lead to speculation that CM Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, may finally return to WWE after more than a decade away to help CM Punk deal with his rival, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch. I don’t know for sure if AJ is going to come back, but it makes sense based on this story. I think it’s very likely at this point.

WWE Clash In Paris had a runtime of 3 hours, and 50 minutes.

Final Thoughts on WWE Clash In Paris

I’m going 7.75 out of 10 for this show.

A very good show like SummerSlam. The final three matches were better than the first three matches. I think the Cena-Paul match was the best; I liked the Rusev-Sheamus match next, and then the 4-way main event was very good as well, albeit predictable. Becky Lynch’s involvement in helping Seth Rollins wasn’t predictable, and that sets up AJ Lee’s WWE comeback to aid CM Punk, which many fans will appreciate.

They did the big injury angle for Roman Reigns to write him out for his next break and upcoming movie role, so he’ll be home for a while before making a return.

The “Simplement deux” chant for two counts is cool at first, but after nearly four hours of it, the chant feels repetitive, and you can tell that some fans were tired of doing it. It was still a fun crowd in Paris.
