WWE Hall Of Famer Comments On ‘War’ Between WWE & AEW
A WWE Hall of Famer has commented on the rivalry between AEW and WWE and explained if thinks there is really a new wrestling war happening.
Road Dogg is no stranger to a wrestling war having been part of the DX group that invaded WCW in a tank (jeep) during the notorious Monday Night Wars.
The tag team specialist was also a major part of Triple H’s backstage team that took NXT to the USA Network in response to the impending debut of AEW in late 2019. Following the revamp of NXT, and a backstage overhaul, Road Dogg was released from his WWE contract in early 2022.
Now speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Road Dogg discussed whether or not the competition between WWE and AEW really constitutes a new wrestling war:
“[AEW is] not going head to head with [WWE] so it almost feels more like, not a war but like — I don’t know — Like, there is another wrestling show on… I don’t think the boys are so in a competition, in a war, as the offices are, you know what I mean?”
The Wednesday Night Wars between AEW Dynamite and NXT proved to be relatively short-lived as NXT switched to Tuesday nights following WrestleMania 38.
Road Dogg recently discussed Triple H’s shot at AEW during DX’s Hall of Fame induction back in 2019.
