WWE Hall Of Famer DDP Reflects On The Best In-Ring Work Of His Career

WWE Hall Of Famer DDP Reflects On The Best In-Ring Work Of His Career

In a recent episode of the “Six Feet Under” podcast, hosted by Mark Calaway – better known as The Undertaker, WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) offered fans a glimpse into his storied wrestling career, from his in-ring triumphs to his life after retirement. During the candid conversation, DDP highlighted what he considers the pinnacle of his in-ring work – his electrifying feud with “Macho Man” Randy Savage in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) back in 1997.

DDP, known for his innovative “Diamond Cutter” finisher and his subsequent “DDP Yoga” empire, discussed the impact of his rivalry with Savage.

My best stuff ever was with Randy because everyone knew that Randy laid out everything.

The Hall of Famer went on to explain his own wrestling philosophy, which aligned closely with Savage’s style.

And so did I – I wanted to know. But I was always more improv and preparation, I wanna know where we are going.

This approach to match structuring was somewhat unconventional at the time, setting both Page and Savage apart from their peers, a lot different than today’s pro wrestling world according to DDP.

Today everyone does it, but then it was just him and no one busted his balls, but everybody busted my balls about it.

Despite facing criticism from other wrestler for his detailed match planning, DDP remained undeterred with Page emphasising his commitment to delivering high-quality performances regardless of backstage opinions.

I had great matches all through that time, I didn’t care.

The DDP-Savage feud is remembered as one of the most compelling storylines in late 90s WCW. The two would headline PPV events and their matches are looked back on fondly today. Their matches were characterised by intense action and great storytelling, with the rivalry not only elevating Page’s status in WCW, but also showcasing his ability to work with one of the industry’s most respected veterans.

DDP Reveals His Shocking Backstage Confrontation With Randy Savage

DDP has shared his account of a backstage confrontation with fellow WWE Hall of Famer “Macho Man” Randy Savage. The incident, which occurred during their intense WCW rivalry in a match at the 1997 Great American Bash PPV, left Page concussed and temporarily unable to recall events.
