WWE “Fail To Land” Return For Former Star
WWE has been under something of a hiring freeze since the announced takeover by Endeavor was announced and this may have played a part in the company failing to bring back a former champion.
Naomi – also known as Trinity Fatu – has not been seen in a wrestling ring since May 2022 and has recently disputed a report that shed light on why she hadn’t been picked up elsewhere.
Naomi and Sasha Banks walked out of WWE in May 2022 while they were both WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. However, since then Banks has been reborn as Mercedes Mone and is the current IWGP Women’s Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling but Naomi remains out of action.
Fightful Select issued a report about the unofficial hiring freeze that is taking place in WWE due to the impending takeover by Endeavor. It was noted that despite this approach the company has still been active in talking to several talents such as Jay White who ultimately joined AEW.
Interestingly it was noted in the report that the company had also been interested in NJPW stars Tama Tonga and Hikuleo as well as being interested in bringing back Naomi but
WWE also had been interested in Hikuleo, Tama Tonga, and bringing back Naomi but the company “didn’t end up landing them” suggesting that the former SmackDown Women’s Champion won’t be making a return.
