WWE Extends Contract Of Absent Star
Alexa Bliss has revealed that WWE has extended her contract due to her hiatus from the company where she has not been seen since the 2023 Royal Rumble.
Alexa Bliss has not competed inside the squared circle since she lost against Bianca Belair at the 2023 Royal Rumble. Earlier reports suggested that she is on a hiatus from the company but the former Raw Women’s Champion has disputed that.
Alexa Bliss did, however, reveal that she underwent a procedure earlier this year to remove basal cell carcinoma from her face, but noted at the time there was not a long recovery time for that operation.
It has now emerged that Bliss is set for a long lay-off from the ring as she is pregnant with her and her husband Ryan Cabrera’s first child.
Speaking to The Messenger, Alexa Bliss revealed – despite her earlier protestations at the reports – that WWE did give her time off so she could make the most of her time on The Masked Singer, and as a result of that time away from the ring WWE has extended her contract as she talks about her plans to return to the ring following the birth of her child:
“WWE gave me time off for [Masked Singer] to kind of fully dive into that experience with rehearsals, vocal lessons, and all that stuff. Storyline-wise, I was not on TV anyway, so it really kind of worked out perfectly. [WWE] extended my contract, and so it’s just basically come back when I’m ready. Probably a month after the baby, I’ll start probably getting back into the gym, and getting ready to see what my in-ring return looks like.
“I was preparing for my return in the ring and I was just having really bad cramping,” Bliss said. “I thought that was weird. So then I just decided to take a test and then I think I said, ‘Oh sh*t.'”
