WWE Champion Wins First Main Roster Singles Match On Raw
Despite being one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green had never won a match on Raw or SmackDown, until now.
Monday Night Raw in Greenville, South Carolina was a Halloween-tinged go-home show for WWE’s red brand ahead of a huge night in Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. If there was any doubt about Triple H’s influence on the show, sixteen out of the eighteen stars featured in matches graduated from NXT – the two outliers were Natalya whose time in WWE predates the brand, and Dominik Mysterio who began life on the main roster but is the current NXT North American Champion.
The latest stars to join the main roster from NXT were making their Raw debut in Greenville as The Creed Brothers who were accompanied by their Diamond Mine partner Ivy Nile defeated Alpha Academy. However, there was arguably an even bigger win for someone with far more main roster experience on the show.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green has found success in the tag team ranks in WWE – although she is yet to defend her title that she won in July – but had not won a singles match while part of the main roster in the company.
Chelsea Green Gives Natalya A Scare On WWE Raw
That all changed on Raw as Green took on Natalya in a Trick or Street Fight to commemorate Halloween. The match saw all manner of chaos take place with a motionless Nikki Cross revealed with her head under a pumpkin at one point.
Chelsea Green was sent flying through a table and inadvertently pied her tag team partner Piper Niven in the face at one point but it was Niven she had to thank for causing a long enough distraction as Natalya sent her flying off the apron for Green to nail her opponent with the Unprettier for the win.
