WWE Interested In Bringing Back Former Tag Team Champions

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

A new report has indicated that WWE is interested in bringing back more ex-stars, with a pair of former tag team champions now on its radar.

Since Triple H took control of the creative direction of WWE following Vince McMahon’s short-lived retirement in July 2022, the company has brought back many stars that it had previously released or had let their contracts expire. Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Dexter Lumis, Tegan Nox, Emma, Braun Strowman, and Bray Wyatt are among the stars to have made their WWE comeback in recent months.

Now Fightful Select has reported that two more former stars are the subject of return talk within the company. Former Raw and NXT Tag Team Champions, Authors of Pain – Akam and Rezar – have been discussed within WWE about returning in the near future, with the possibility that the team could return with their original manager, Paul Ellering.

Ellering was the team’s manager on NXT but he was not brought up to the main roster with them and the duo were latterly managed for an ill-fated spell by Drake Maverick.

Both Akam and Rezar are still under thirty and have not wrestled since their final match in WWE which took place on the 9th of March 2020 edition of Raw. Following their release, both men spearheaded the disastrous WES promotion that had to abandon a planned show that featured many former WWE stars on it that was to take place in the UK.
