WWE Aware Of The Rock’s WrestleMania 39 Status “For A While”

The Rock

WWE had known for a while that The Rock would not be able to compete at WrestleMania, according to Dave Meltzer.

With WrestleMania 39 taking place in Los Angeles, WWE had hoped to place Hollywood star The Rock in the main event against Roman Reigns.

However, as reported earlier this week on TJR Wrestling, that is looking unlikely and it appears that WWE has been aware for some time that the ‘The Great One’ would not be competing at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’.

Meltzer discussed the claims on Wrestling Observer Radio, stating that The Rock feels he does not have enough time to get ready for in-ring action, adding that WWE had known about this for a while.

“Anything is possible, and it’s certainly possible he could be keeping everything a secret from all by one or two people, but the word is that he doesn’t have the time to get in the shape.”

“All along, if he has the time to do it, he will do it. Put it this way, most are of the opinion that it’s not happening, and it’s been for months. Those on the inside thought the odds were not good based on that thing because (his schedule). There’s no such thing as 100% because it’s a very secretive business. Within the company, it’s not looking good.”

“It was known by insiders as the probable thing for a while. It’s not like something he all of a sudden gave the final word on [a] Thursday, like ‘Hey, I’m not doing it.’ It’s like they were aware.”

Whilst a match looks off the cards, there is still speculation the Brahma Bull could make an appearance at the SoFi Stadium during the two-night event taking place in April.

The Rock has not appeared in WWE since last being seen at the 20th Anniversary episode of Smackdown on October 4th, 2019, during a segment with Becky Lynch.

Lynch is set to face off with Bayley in a steel cage match on his week’s landmark edition of Raw.

Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Diamond Dallas Page, and many more WWE Legends are due to appear this Monday night at the 30th Anniversary edition of Raw, which will take place at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia.
