WWE Announces Backlash In France
WWE is making Europe feel very special heading into 2024 as the company announces Backlash will be heading to France.
WWE has already announced that Bash In Berlin will be held on August 31 2024 in the German capital. That event will fall on the same week that AEW returns to Wembley Stadium in London, England for All In leaving European fans spoiled for major shows.
Now, WWE has announced on social media that Backlash 2024 will be the first-ever premium live event held in France. The show will air live on May 4 2024 from the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Decines which is in the south-east of the country. Given its close proximity to his hometown of Grenoble, the company may well pay tribute to its most famous French star André The Giant on the show.

WWE held Backlash in Puerto Rico in 2023 and as the company continues to solicit site fees for its major shows. It is unknown at this time how much the company has been paid to hold Backlash in France.
When Was WWE Last In France?
WWE held a live event in France in April 2023 in the country’s capital Paris. The last time the company went to Lyon was all the way back in November 2016 with a live event that featured Kevin Owens defending his Universal Title in the main event against Seth Rollins.
WWE has held televised shows in France before which have aired on French station Canal+. The last of these was held in April 1993 and saw Yokozuna defeat Jim Duggan in the main event.
