Fans could have seen a current WWE Champion in a different light had the promotion stuck to its original plans.

Tiffany Stratton serves as the Women’s Champion on SmackDown, a title that she won on the January 3, 2025, episode of the brand.

Stratton won the 2024 Money in the Bank contract, earning herself the right to challenge the champion at any desired place and time.

On the first SmackDown episode of 2025, she turned on her ally, Nia Jax, who was the then-Women’s Champion.

She cashed in the contract to win the belt for the first time. Since then, she has defended the gold multiple times, including a couple of times against Jax.

Most recently, Tiffany Stratton defended the title against Jade Cargill at SummerSlam. While Cargill continues to chase her title aspirations, Nia Jax has seemingly entered into the fray, too.

Tiffany Stratton Discusses Scrapped WWE Gimmick

In her current gimmick, Tiffany Stratton oscillates between heel and babyface personas.

Her approach has thus earned her criticism, but she believes that she has no reason to change, especially when she has the momentum.

During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Stratton talked about a scrapped gimmick from her WWE NXT days.

Stratton initially portrayed a “daddy’s little rich girl” gimmick with a mean personality, but the promotion decided to do away with it. She was asked by the host about the thought process behind the shift.

Yeah, so, the daddy’s little rich girl gimmick kind of came from, like, Sharpay Evans from High School Musical or like Paris Hilton. So, we went with it for a little bit and then Shawn (Michaels) was like, “We don’t have a daddy for you. We don’t really have a payoff. So, I think we kind of need to scrap it.” And that’s what we ended up doing, which is totally fine because I don’t think I needed to be like daddy’s little rich girl. I think, you know, just being the blonde, pink barbie doll was enough. So, that’s kind of why that happened.

My character has developed since then and stuff. So, yeah, that’s kind of why we scrapped it. [14:34 onwards]
