Why AEW Lost Interest In Danhausen
Danhausen has been missing from AEW for quite some time and now it seems the reason for his fall from grace in the company has been revealed.
At AEW Revolution in March 2023, Danhausen suffered a very serious and very evil injury. Danhausen was in a four-team tag team match with Orange Cassidy against the AEW Tag Team Champions The Gunns, The Acclaimed and Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett. While Danhausen put up a fight, he also took the pinfall when The Gunns hit their finishing move to retain the titles. Shortly after the match, Danhausen revealed he had suffered a torn pectoral muscle that required surgery.
Following his recovery, Danhausen returned to AEW TV in November 2023 but has not appeared at all for the company in 2024 leaving many fans wondering about his future in the company.
AEW Future Looks Bleak For Danhausen
Fightful Select has now reported that despite his absence, Danhausen is still under contract with AEW until the summer of 2025. However, it seems all has not been well between the very evil star and the company as they are not said to have been in regular contact for around six months outside of approving Danhausen’s independent bookings.
Plans changed in AEW for Danhuasen’s return and that led to him expressing his frustrations directly to Tony Khan. Bryan Danielson is said to have been a big proponent for bringing him back into the fold but this, so far, has not happened.
The report notes that AEW believed Danhausen wanted to prioritise independent bookings over wrestling on Saturday night’s Collision show. The face-painted star is said to have indicated to AEW that family-related reasons caused adjustments to his availability but AEW had noted he had appeared on indie shows during that time and the belief took hold that he did not want to work on Collision.
Currently, there are still no creative plans to bring Danhausen back to AEW TV.
