When Does AJ Styles’ WWE Contract Expire?
The clock is ticking on AJ Styles’ wrestling career.
Styles began wrestling professionally in 1998 in the indies before getting mainstream exposure in WCW in 2001.
A year later, he was offered a developmental deal contract by WWE, but he declined it due to important family commitments.
He continued to make headlines while working in the independent circuit, and appeared in promotions like Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action.
In TNA, AJ Styles went on to earn a legendary status, wrestling for the company from 2002 to 2014, winning multiple championships, including the X Division Championship and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
After wrestling in New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2014 to 2016, he made the unthinkable jump to World Wrestling Entertainment, debuting at the 2016 Royal Rumble.
At age 48, he is a 2-time World Champion, 3-time United States Champion, and has won the Intercontinental Championship and the RAW Tag Team Championship once.
When Does AJ Styles’ WWE Contract End?
Speculations about AJ Styles’ retirement have prevailed since he suffered a Lisfranc injury in October 2024.
However, he returned at the 2025 Royal Rumble and has been a mainstay on the WWE RAW roster.
It was also reported that he had signed a contract extension. Previously, during an appearance on Chris Van Vliet‘s podcast, he had revealed that he won’t wrestle when he is fifty.
Amid continued speculations about his contract expiration, Fightful Select offered an update.
We’ve learned more details on AJ Styles current deal. Especially considering a new post of an hourglass that seemed to tease retirement. Earlier this year, there was heavy speculation on the contract of AJ Styles, and when it was scheduled to expire.
Fightful Select found out from those close to Styles that his deal was extended for one-year. We’re told that WWE does hope to retain him after that period, but will evaluate things and his interest.
What we didn’t know at that point was when the contract actually expires, or how long the deal was. Sources close to Styles had indicated that the deal is up around February of 2026, which would have him expiring after the Royal Rumble and before WrestleMania season. Styles has long discussed the possibility of retirement, but hasn’t mentioned it much lately, and his in-ring work hasn’t suffered.
In other news, another wrestling veteran hopes to get into the ring with AJ Styles one more time.
