On the August 18, 2025, episode of WWE Raw, Xavier Woods suffered a serious neck injury during his singles match against Penta.

The injury happened when Penta executed the dangerous Mexican Destroyer move, a highly risky piledriver variation banned in WWE due to its potential to cause severe neck damage.

Though the full extent of Woods’s injury remains unknown, reports from Fightful Select revealed he told people backstage that his neck was hurt badly. One source even claimed to have seen Woods wearing a neck brace later that evening, indicating the injury’s severity. Despite the injury, Woods was able to leave under his own power, suggesting it was not critically debilitating at first.

“We haven’t learned anything regarding the extent of it, but one source claimed they actually saw him wearing a neck brace later that evening. He was able to leave under his own power and initially didn’t seem severe at least based on the fact that he was up and continuing his evening.” [H/T Ringside News]

Xavier Woods Blasts WWE and Adam Pearce for His Neck Injury

On a recent video posted on his X account, Xavier Woods blamed WWE and RAW General Manager Adam Pearce for his injury on RAW. He criticized Pearce for allowing the dangerous Mexican Destroyer pile-driver to be used against him despite its ban, highlighting that it’s the most hazardous piledriver variant in WWE.

Woods accused Pearce of deliberate neglect, pointing out that he did not receive the same care and medical attention as other wrestlers like Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, who were treated promptly after similar attacks. Woods suggested Pearce used this dangerous move as a tactic to prevent New Day from getting their well-earned rematch for the Tag Team Championship.

He vowed that his tag partner, Kofi Kingston, would avenge him by defeating Penta and protecting the roster from such harm. Woods emphasized the strength and resilience of New Day while mourning the decline of WWE’s tag team division, asking fans to keep them and his injury in their thoughts and prayers.
