Update On The Elite’s New AEW Deals, “Movement” Toward A Huge Match
The Elite are staying put in AEW and it seems at least one blockbuster match could be on the horizon.
The news broke ahead of the 200th episode of AEW Dynamite that after prolonged negotiations The Elite quartet of The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Hangman Adam Page have signed new deals to stay with AEW.
All four men were fundamental in the formation of the company with Omega and The Bucks taking on EVP roles alongside Cody Rhodes. The departure of Rhodes and his subsequent success in WWE had led many to wonder if any of his former teammates would follow suit but that is not the case, at least for now.
Fightful Select is now reporting that they have learned that Omega, alongside Matt and Nick Jackson have retained their EVP roles with their new deals. Although the length of the contracts is uncertain, one was described as being for “at least four years” but it is unknown if the deals offered have been for the same length of time.
“Movement” over big match for The Elite
With All In on the horizon, many are expecting AEW to pull out all the stops for the giant Wembley Stadium show. Although there is still nothing new known about finally putting The Elite and CM Punk in the same ring following their highly publicised issues, there is said to be “movement” over The Young Bucks getting back in the ring with FTR.
The rivalry between The Bucks and FTR pre-dates AEW by several years and both teams have picked up a win over the other in their two tag team bouts in the company. With FTR holding the AEW Tag Team Championship once again, a showdown for tag team supremacy with The Bucks could be a mouth-watering prospect for All In.
One thing that was noted was how long the negotiations over a new deal took with AEW looking to get things started in January 2023. Interestingly, the return of CM Punk to AEW is said to have caused a “slowdown” but as things have turned out it did not cause The Elite to find a new wrestling home elsewhere.
