Update On CM Punk’s Status For Forbidden Door
CM Punk is back in All Elite Wrestling after he returned as bold as ever on the debut edition of Collision in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
Punk opened the show with a promo that had echoes of previous ones in WWE as he removed the microphone flag bearing the AEW logo and let his voice be heard.
CM Punk alluded to other wrestlers in the company being soft as well as referencing The Young Bucks with a line referring to “counterfeit Bucks” – The Young Bucks were said to have taken the line light-heartedly and even referenced it on their own social media.
Now Fightful Select has provided some backstage reaction to Punk’s promo as well as providing an update on the former AEW World Champion’s status for Forbidden Door which is now just days away.
The report noted that people on both sides of any divide said that Punk was just getting out whatever he needed to say although there were some suggestions of hypocrisy over his “soft” line following his complaints about getting chopped in the face during his match with Adam Page.

In the Collision main event, CM Punk teamed with FTR to defeat the trio of Samoa Joe, Juice Robinson, and Jay White, and Punk was said to have been checked by trainers afterward as a precaution but was fine.
As for the future, there has been talk of Punk finally facing KENTA at Forbidden Door but this is still not 100% according to the report, although AEW is hoping that the match happens. Punk is believed to be scheduled for Dynamite on the 21st of June although this has not been announced, with only one more edition of Collision following that show before Forbidden Door takes place on June 25th.
