Update On Bray Wyatt Being Absent From WWE
There has been an update on Bray Wyatt’s absence from WWE TV along with missing multiple live events.
Bray Wyatt was advertised for a match at WWE’s Madison Square Garden live event in New York City on Sunday night, but he didn’t appear as advertised. As WWE fans know, the company always puts “card subject to change” on the card because things can and always change. Bray was also advertised for a live event that I attended last Sunday, March 5th in Kitchener, Ontario and he wasn’t there either.
At WrestleMania 39, Bray Wyatt was scheduled for a match against Bobby Lashley, which has been teased for a few weeks although they haven’t been on screen together. Lashley beat up Uncle Howdy during one interaction and Wyatt appeared in a video package that Lashley looked at on a screen.
In an update, Fightful Select has reported that Bray Wyatt is dealing with a “physical issue” and it’s not known when Wyatt will return from whatever this injury is. Wyatt also has apparently been dealing with an illness as well.
There have been rumors that there might be creative issues regarding WWE, but Fightful said they haven’t been given any information to confirm that. A WWE source denied it.
The Fightful story noted that Bobby Lashley isn’t currently scheduled for tonight’s Raw. Wyatt isn’t scheduled for Raw either.
It was also added by Fightful that Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy materials are sent to the site of Smackdown, but haven’t been there at Smackdown the last two weeks.
Wyatt has been dealing with a gruesome hand injury since the start of 2023, which he showed off in a tweet. It’s not known if that hand injury is the physical issue keeping Wyatt off TV or if it’s something else that is bothering him. Wyatt did wrestle after suffering the hand injury.
Since his WWE return in October 2022, Wyatt has only wrestled one televised match – an easy victory over LA Knight at Royal Rumble 2023 in a Pitch Black Match. Even though he’s only wrestled on TV once since coming back to WWE, Wyatt has wrestled at many live events.
At one point, WWE pitched Brock Lesnar a match against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 39, but Lesnar nixed the idea and Lesnar will be against Omos now.
