U.S. Vice President JD Vance Pays Tribute To “American Icon” Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan’s impact extended all the way to the top of U.S. politics.
WWE and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan passed away at home on July 24 after suffering cardiac arrest. Hogan was 71 years old.
Hulk Hogan’s impact on the world of professional wrestling is impossible to calculate. He ushered in the biggest boom period in industry history, and permeated the mainstream like no one had even dreamed was possible.
With his legacy already secure, he then changed the game for a second time in 1996 by turning heel and joining forces with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to create the nWo.
Following news of his death, tributes immediately began pouring in, with Triple H, WWE, Ric Flair, Charlotte Flair, and even members of the United States government among those paying their respects.
In a post on social media, U.S. Vice President JD Vance paid tribute to Hogan, while fondly recalling their time spent together.
Hulk Hogan was a great American icon. One of the first people I ever truly admired as a kid.
The last time I saw him, we promised we’d get beers together next time we saw each other.
The next time will have to be on the other side, my friend! Rest in peace.
Throughout 2024, Hogan publicly supported Donald Trump and his bid to win a second term as President of the United States. This included appearing at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he gave a speech calling for “Trumpamania” to run wild.
Hulk Hogan Leaves Behind A Complicated Legacy
During his final WWE appearance, Hulk Hogan was loudly booed during a segment on Raw back in January.
Many believe the hostile response stemmed from Hogan’s history of racism and using racist slurs, while others felt his support of Donald Trump also played a role. This has left fans around the world struggling to reconcile Hogan’s incredible impact on the world of wrestling with his controverial and often offensive personal views.
