Trish Stratus Discusses Her “Smooth” Return To WWE
Trish Stratus has commented on her WWE return, which will see her participating in a big match at WrestleMania 39 along with some friends.
It’s WrestleMania season, so that means sometimes WWE Hall of Famers get back into the mix to dip their toes and receive those “you still got it” chants from the crowd. The great “Stone Cold” Steve Austin did it at WrestleMania 38 last year as he competed in and won his first WWE match in 19 years when he beat Kevin Owens.
Lita is back this year after winning the Raw Women’s Titles with Becky Lynch on the February 27th edition of Raw. Lita and Becky likely wouldn’t have been able to win those titles without an assist, which is why it was great to have Trish Stratus show up to stop Bayley from helping her Damage CTRL buddies Dakota Kai & IYO SKY win the match.
The situation between the six women has led to a big tag team at WrestleMania 39 on April 1st or April 2nd with Trish, Lita & Becky teaming up against Bayley, Dakota & IYO.
For Trish Stratus, it will be her first WWE match since SummerSlam 2019 when she had a very competitive match against Charlotte Flair, who found a way to pick up the win.
In an interview with Adam Silverstein on Getting Over, Trish spoke about the creative process of her WrestleMania storyline considering there were reports that she was going to return a week or two earlier than that February 27th episode of Raw.
“Everything has been pretty smooth, to be honest. I know there were little online rumblings, but everything happens for a reason. There are definitely a lot of gut intuitions going into making these decisions, and I think we landed at the right place at the right time. I’m excited where it landed.”
It’s just enough time before Mania, it’s the right dynamic, the right timing, the girls have the tag team titles, unexpected. What a moment. Nobody expected that. For me, there was so much buzz about me, people forgot about me, then I surprised them again.”
“Everything played out really well, I think, in a way where this world can be predicted, ‘ah, we know what’s happening tonight,’ I think we did it in a nice way that it’s exciting and people didn’t know what’s coming next. Still, there is so much more that can happen between now and Mania. It’s exciting.
“There is a good build up now, because when I came back for Charlotte, we didn’t have much time to build it. Here, we have a nice little bit of time to build into Mania.”
This past Monday on the March 13th episode on Raw wasn’t a fun night for Trish as she was attacked by Damage CTRL, but she did issue a warning to the group later in the show.
Even though Trish Stratus hasn’t had a match in three years, the 47-year-old WWE Hall of Famer is still in incredible shape as evidenced by her recent Instagram post.

While Stratus is clearly focused on WrestleMania 39, she is also a very busy woman that’s a wife, a mother of two, and a judge on Canada’s Got Talent, which starts its third season on March 21st.
