Triple H On If WarGames Will Be New Survivor Series Tradition

Two WarGames matches took place at this year’s WWE Survivor Series, but Triple H is not confirming if it will be an annual thing just yet.

For the first time in WWE history, WarGames matches took place on the main roster. Prior to this year’s Survivor Series, WWE only did WarGames matches in NXT from 2017 to 2021. The man in charge of NXT during most of that period was Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

In his current role as WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H has been in charge of the WWE creative team since late July when Vince McMahon retired after 40 years of calling the shots. Since then, Triple H has been a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways as he has brought back several superstars and clearly has a different way of booking compared to what Vince did.

At Survivor Series, the Women’s WarGames match opened the show with a team led by Bianca Belair getting the win thanks to Becky Lynch hitting a leg drop off the top of the cage onto Dakota Kai & IYO SKY, who were on a table. Lynch pinned Kai to get the win for her team in what was Lynch’s first match in four months due to a shoulder injury.

The main event of WarGames saw Sami Zayn prove his loyalty to The Bloodline as the five-man team led by Roman Reigns picked up the win. After Zayn physically stopped the referee from counting Reigns being pinned by Kevin Owens, Zayn hit former best friend Owens with a Helluva Kick and Jey Uso followed up with an Uso Splash off the top for the win.

While the WarGames matches were well-received by fans after it was over, Triple H wasn’t officially ready to say that WarGames is going to be a regular thing at Survivor Series every year. At a post-Survivor Series press conference that aired on WWE’s Youtube channel, Triple H said “we’ll see” regarding the future of Wargames:

“I think we’ll see. It worked out incredibly well tonight, it was very exciting, we’ll see how that goes. In the process of looking at the overall year-to-year calendar, and seeing where things go and end up, I believe tonight was very successful, so it makes me feel positive. We’ll see where the future takes us.”

The next WWE main roster Premium Live Event is the Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 28th from San Antonio, Texas.
