Top WWE Star Forced To Retire Dangerous Move After Injury
A WWE superstar recently confirmed retiring a move for it being “too dangerous.”
Iyo Sky has mesmerised audiences worldwide through her in-ring acrobatics, but she no longer uses the Moonsault Stomp.
The move involves her performing a moonsault, but instead of landing stomach-first on her opponent, she lands feet-first, which can cause her to lose balance or even injure her ankles.
The 35-year-old Japanese wrestling sensation spoke to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, where she discussed retiring the Moonsault Stomp.
The Genius of the Sky recalled breaking her ankle during an NXT TakeOver event, leading her to reevaluate its use.
That is too dangerous for me. I don’t want to break my ankle again. Because actually, I broke my ankle four years ago at NXT TakeOver, I did a moonsault to the outside, and there was an announce table. I hit my toe on the announcer’s table, very, very strongly. And then, oh my gosh, I thought it was completely broken, but yeah, no bad, but broken bone.
Iyo Sky Suffers A Setback On WWE RAW
Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley teamed up at Crown Jewel, securing a victory over The Kabuki Warriors.
On WWE RAW, Ripley faced Kairi Sane in a singles match. While The Pirate Princess maintained the offensive for most of the match, she failed to win after Ripley hit her with a Riptide.
After the match, Ripley attempted to put Asuka through the table, but Sane intervened and attacked her with a Kendo Stick.
Having regained the advantage, The Empress of Tomorrow nailed The Eradicator with a DDT on the announcer’s desk, leaving her motionless.
Iyo Sky, who was previously attacked, could only help enough to carry her partner to the back.
While it was speculated that their rivalry had ended after Crown Jewel, it appears that WWE is keen on exploring it further.
