Top AEW Talent Feels It’s Best To “Keep Quiet” About CM Punk
Some of the biggest stars on the AEW roster believe that it is in their best interests to not discuss the ongoing issues regarding CM Punk.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter corroborates Wade Keller’s report that AEW President Tony Khan was seen enthusiastically chanting Punk’s name in Gorilla during the June 21st broadcast.
This specific moment is cited as the point where talent believes there is no point in arguing about any problems they have with the former World Champion, described as “a fight that it served no purpose to get into.” Sources did state that they are unhappy with the way that things are being handled and there is a strong belief that things will get worse before they get better in the company.
The opinion from top stars in the company comes after Punk has been allegedly responsible for multiple wrestlers not being booked for shows, or choosing to confront them directly following previous issues. The whole situation is believed to be causing a great deal of frustration in the company.
Despite the ongoing controversies, Punk’s skills in leadership and assistance in booking the show have been praised. The Second City Saint has been described as the focal point of Collision and it is very much his show. However, the effort made to elevate other talents and the show having a different feel to Dynamite has also been well received.
Tony Khan Provides No Comment On Alleged CM Punk Issues
All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan was interviewed to promote the Fight For The Fallen special shortly after the news first broke regarding the infamous Collision taping on August 12th. When asked if he had anything to say regarding the ongoing issues, Khan declined to comment any further.
