Tony Khan “Very Upset” With CM Punk
Tony Khan has decided to hit back at CM Punk.
It’s been announced that The Young Bucks will show backstage footage from AEW All In on Dynamite. While many initially expected this to be some kind of spoof, it’s been widely reported that AEW will air footage of the altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry.
The highly-publicised incident that took place just minutes before CM Punk wrestled Samoa Joe inside Wembley Stadium, resulted in Punk being fired.
The alteration has been thrown back into the news agenda in recent days after Punk discussed it openly for the first time during an interview. During the interview, Punk was none too complimentary about AEW, Tony Khan, or Perry himself.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that AEW will be airing genuine footage on Dynamite and that it is in direct response to the comments made by Punk.
“It is 100%, they’re airing the footage. Tony was very upset about CM Punk’s interview. And apparently, I was told that he wanted to air this footage a long time ago. And for whatever reason, he did not. And now, I guess because of the timing and the interview and what CM Punk said, he is going to air it. And we’ve heard many sides of the story about what happened.
We’re going to see Wednesday, but I think it’s safe to say that if it were the story that CM Punk told, I don’t know why Tony would air the footage.”
What Did CM Punk Say About Tony Khan?
During his interview with Ariel Helwani, CM Punk denied making Tony Khan fear for his life at All In. Khan had made the claims when he fired Punk back in September.
Punk also suggested that while Khan was a nice guy, he wasn’t a good boss, and AEW isn’t a real business. The now-WWE star added that he felt there was a deliberate attempt to slander him by AEW following his departure from the company.
CM Punk is currently out injured after suffering a torn triceps at the Royal Rumble.
