Tony Khan To Run AEW From “Remote Location” Following Attack

Tony Khan AEW Neckbrace

Tony Khan will continue to be absent from AEW.

On the April 24th edition of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan ended the night beaten and broken, after being attacked by The Elite.

Over the following days, Khan has continued to sell the attack during the NFL Draft, and it looks like he won’t be returning to AEW television any time soon.

During the April 27th episode of Collision, Tony Schiavone offered an update on Khan’s condition.

“Tony Khan has suffered multiple head and neck injuries. I talked with him today, and he tells me he feels very blessed and very happy that he’s still able to work. And of course, we’ve seen him in Jacksonville this week during the NFL Draft.

However, doctors have advised Tony Khan that he cannot travel, but he’ll be able to run AEW from Jacksonville as we travel, starting with Winnipeg on Wednesday night.

So that’s good news, Tony is on the mend but he’ll be running our company from a remote location.”

After Schiavone gave the update, Nigel McGuinness questioned whether AEW would need someone on the road to keep things in order. Interestingly, Kenny Omega has been confirmed for Dynamite in Winnipeg, and fans have wondered whether he could feature in some kind of authority role before eventually returning to the ring.

Tony Khan Criticised For WWE Comments

During an appearance on the NFL Network, Khan took the chance to talk up AEW while also taking a shot at WWE, calling the company the “Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling.”

“WWE is like the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling. I’m really proud of what we do down here.”

Dave Meltzer went on to criticise Tony Khan for the comments, saying there could be “blowback” for going after the entire WWE.

“Right now I wish he wouldn’t go in that direction. I wish WWE wouldn’t either. But neither is going to happen. I know Khan believes this engagement is good, but I don’t think that’s the case.”

He could get away with calling Vince “Weinstein” but calling the full company that is an issue that will cause a ton of blowback.”
