Tony Khan Breaks Silence On Jack Perry As AEW Absence Continues

Jack Perry NJPW

Tony Khan has finally broken his silence on Jack Perry after reports emerged that Khan was still angry with the star over CM Punk’s AEW exit.

CM Punk was involved in a backstage fight with Jack Perry at All In which was not Punk’s first backstage scuffle in the company. Infamously, CM Punk was involved in a fight with The Elite at All Out in 2022 that led to a split in the roster with Punk heading up Collision while The Elite stuck to Dynamite.

The fight with Perry was a bridge too far to recover from as it turned out as Tony Khan fired CM Punk after a disciplinary committee – involving Bryan Danielson – concluded that he had to go.

CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE two months after his firing but it wasn’t until early 2024 before Jack Perry resurfaced in the wrestling world. Perry has not been seen in AEW since the incident but has appeared in New Japan Pro Wrestling, apparently ripping up his AEW contract and joining NJPW’s House of Torture.

Tony Khan is believed to still be very angry at Jack Perry over Punk’s firing but the man himself has kept quiet about the star until now.

Tony Khan Gives His Thoughts On Jack Perry

Speaking to Liam Crowley of ComicBook, finally opened up about Jack Perry but rather than show any displeasure he touted Perry as doing great things in NJPW:

I think you have to stay tuned. Absolutely, Jack is doing great things in New Japan. The New Japan Cup, he’s had a great run. He established himself over there, he feels he’s the scapegoat. He’s doing great things, he’s wrestling for a great promotion, and it’s been great tracking Jack’s progress in New Japan and he’s done excellent work there.

Whether or not Jack Perry makes his return to AEW remains to be seen but for now, it seems The Scapegoat has found some like-minded individuals to have his back in NJPW.
