TNA Star Would Love Third Bite At WWE
Current TNA star AJ Francis has admitted he would “love” to get another chance in WWE.
During his time in WWE, Francis was known as Top Dolla and was a member of Hit Row alongside Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis, B-Fab, and Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott – now AEW’s Swerve Strickland. The group were a hit in NXT in 2021, but their run on the main roster was short-lived, with the whole faction being released less than a month after making their SmackDown debut as part of cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After his release, Francis spent some time on the independent scene before being brought back to WWE in August 2022 alongside B-Fab and Adonis. Hit Row gained some stream in the tag team division, but ultimately AJ Francis was released from WWE for the second time in September 2023.
Since then, the star has been a regular on TNA, where he is a former Digital Media Champion and is currently preparing to challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Title.
In the past, AJ Francis has been open about wanting to return to WWE, and during a recent conversation with Wrestleholics, when asked about a possible return to NXT as part of the company’s partnership with TNA, said he would “love to.”
“I would love to do some work at NXT and go back to WWE. That would be great. I’d love to be in a Royal Rumble, but they’ve got my number. They had it the two times they fired my ass.
“I’d love to help Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins and B-Fab. Because they seem to be getting jumped and getting their ass whooped. They need a little backup, you know? I’d love to come help Ashante too. You know, he’s got a little love triangle situation going on. I’ve seen how that pans out for a lot of men. So, I’d love to be there and have my brothers’ backs in that situation.”
AJ Francis Names Potential Opponents For WWE Return
Francis named Trick Williams and Oba Femi as potential opponents and joked that he might fight AJ Styles over the ‘AJ’ name. For now, though, he is waiting for the call.
“I think it would be cool to add another credible challenger for Trick Williams. Trick is in the middle of a great NXT title run, and it’s looking like he’s about to face Oba Femi, which is cool, but I’d love to wrestle Oba myself. There are a lot of things that could be really cool when I go back.”
“I’d also love to fight AJ Styles for the right to be named AJ, you know? There are a million things I could do, but at the end of the day, until they make the call…”
