Thunder Rosa Could Make AEW In-Ring Return “Any Time”
According to a new report, Thunder Rosa’s return to the squared circle could be imminent.
Thunder Rosa hasn’t been seen on AEW television since just before AEW All Out when she announced that she would be stepping away from competition due to injury. Instead of her planned match with Rosa at All Out, Toni Storm was crowned the Interim AEW Women’s Champion in a fatal four way match, and reigned until losing the title to Jamie Hayter at AEW Full Gear.
Despite making a promise back in November that she would “return soon,” Thunder Rosa was stripped of the title due to the severity of her injury, and both Storm and Hayter’s reigns would now be considered in the lineage of the AEW Women’s Championship instead of being in the history books as interim reigns.
Thunder Rosa’s Return Depends On AEW Creative Plans
In an August edition of her vlog on YouTube, the former AEW Women’s Champion shared a conversation with AEW physician Michael “Doc” Sampson that revealed she was nearly ready to return to the ring and would compete in a five-minute “mini-match” to see how she was progressing. Sampson said:
“Good news. She’s been doing well, we’re at week four. She’s been religious with her training, as she always has been, but religious with her training, doing everything we’ve asked her to do.
Next week, if I can share, we’re going to be in Greensboro, and we’re going to do a five-minute mini-match and see how you tolerate that. We’re just taking the steps up. If that looks good, we’re almost there.” (h/t Fightful)
Now, an update from Fightful Select reveals that Thunder Rosa could return to the ring at almost “any time,” provided AEW has creative plans for the star. At Starrcast during All Out Weekend, La Mera Mera indicated to some that she was ready to return.
Thunder Rosa ruffled plenty of feathers backstage during her previous run in AEW, and apologized to the locker room before returning to the road as part of the Spanish commentary team.
