There has been yet another update on the possibility of The Usos appearing at upcoming WWE shows in Canada.

The WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event takes place next Saturday, February 18th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The main event of the show will see Roman Reigns defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against a former member of The Bloodline, Sami Zayn. Montreal is Sami’s hometown, so Zayn should have the “home field advantage” so to speak.

Montreal will also get to host the Friday, February 17th edition of Smackdown one night before Elimination Chamber. WWE has announced some matches for that show including GUNTHER defending the Intercontinental Championship against Madcap Moss while Drew McIntyre & Sheamus team up against the Viking Raiders.

Over the past several days, there have been conflicting reports about the status of The Usos for both Smackdown and Elimination Chamber. That’s because the brothers, who happen to hold the Raw & Smackdown Tag Team Titles, both have DUIs in their past. Jimmy has more of them than Jey, which has led to concerns that one or both brothers may not be able to get into Canada for WWE shows due to the border police being stringent against things like DUI in somebody’s past. It’s worth noting that Jey was at a Smackdown TV event in Winnipeg last September while Jimmy was not.

At the end of the February 10th edition of Smackdown, the final scene of the show saw Paul Heyman inform Jimmy Uso that Roman Reigns’s orders were for The Usos to stay home from Smackdown in Montreal to get a “television perspective” of the show.

Heyman noted that you see a lot more watching the show from home than you do in the arena. That could have been Heyman’s way of hinting at The Usos potential border problems leading to them missing next week’s Smackdown and Elimination Chamber. Perhaps it was a reference to Reigns not being at the most recent Smackdown, so he likely watched on TV as Jey Uso had a private meeting with Sami Zayn in the parking lot area.

During a discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, the hosts Dave Meltzer & Bryan Alvarez spoke about the status of The Usos getting into Canada with Meltzer noting that he was told that both of them will be able to be there.

Bryan Alvarez: “I don’t think Jimmy can get into Canada, but maybe Jey is going to show up.”

Dave Meltzer: “I was told they’re okay.”

Alvarez: “Jimmy can too?”

Meltzer: “I will check again, but when it first came up, I said ‘like are they cleared for Canada?’ and I was told they’re both cleared.”

Alvarez: “Well, one way or another, they’re not supposed to be there.”

Meltzer: “I don’t know if it’s a swerve, or a storyline.”

Alvarez: “Well, I’m sure they’re going to show up to set something up whatever they’re doing with Sami at WrestleMania and Kevin. I mean Kevin hasn’t been around so you know he’s going to show up to make a trumpet return to save Sami at the end. I guess it just depends on how they get to it.”

The WrestleMania 39 plan, which could always change, has been rumored to be a Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania with The Usos facing the best friend duo of Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens with Zayn/Owens likely winning to end The Usos’ record-setting title reign.

That is why there is a popular prediction for the Reigns-Zayn match at Elimination Chamber for Jey Uso, who has been a friend of Zayn for the past several months, to show up in Montreal for the match at Elimination Chamber and cost Zayn the title while proving his loyalty to Reigns. That could lead to Owens saving Zayn from a Bloodline beatdown, which would lead to a huge ovation from the Montreal fans seeing Zayn and Owens reunite as best friends again.

Obviously, a lot of it depends on if The Usos can get into Canada so that the swerve storyline could happen. Just because Heyman told Jimmy Uso that The Usos should stay away doesn’t mean that they will. We’ll have to check out Smackdown and Elimination Chamber in Montreal to see what happens.
