The Undertaker WWE

The Undertaker has been one of WWE’s most prominent characters over the years.

He debuted in WWE, then World Wrestling Federation (WWF), in 1990 during Survivor Series as the mystery partner of Ted DiBiase’s “Million Dollar Team.”

Since then, he’s been a standout figure in the promotion, even spoken about as a reference after retiring in 2020.

While wrestling in the Stamford promotion for 29 years, The Undertaker won 7 World Championships and as many Tag Team Championships with various allies.

He hung up his boots at WrestleMania 36 after wrestling AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match. In the match, which was filmed offsite in a cinematic style, he briefly appeared as his American Bad Ass character.

Since retiring, he has contributed to storylines in a backstage role, and is even serves as one of the mentors on WWE LFG, a wrestling reality TV show.

He recently made an appearance on NXT, wherein he attacked TNA Champion Trick Williams after the latter insulted his LFG mentees.

Vince McMahon Gave The Undertaker His Name

The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, recently revealed that his character’s name was given to him by Vince McMahon.

The 60-year-old former WWE superstar spoke on the Nightcap podcast, wherein he was asked if he picked the name or whether someone gave it to him.

That name was given to me by Vince (McMahon). He had this envisioned in his mind, this character, and basically, he needed a big guy with very limited personality (laughs). But it was something that resonated with me. Everything was on these big storyboards…I’m in his office and he’s showing me this, and immediately my brain is like…like I knew; I didn’t know what it was gonna become, but I knew it was different. I knew it was special. [13:48 onwards]

On the same podcast, The Undertaker fondly remembered the late Bray Wyatt.
