Current Champion Believes He’s The Perfect Final WWE Opponent For John Cena
There’s less than 3 months to go before John Cena wrestles in his final WWE match.
The 17-time World Champion has five appearances left, his next coming at Crown Jewel in Perth on October 11.
Cena recently competed at Wrestlepalooza only to be squashed by his long-standing rival Brock Lesnar. After opening the show, the match lasted 8 minutes and 50 seconds.
Over the last few days, John Cena has been urging WWE to consider AJ Styles as his next opponent. After a series of tweets back-and-forth, it was announced by Triple H that the two veterans will face off at Crown Jewel.
Trick Williams Wants To Be John Cena’s Final WWE Opponent
Amid only a handful of days remaining in John Cena’s retirement and a host of talents to sift through to find his last opponent, Trick Williams has thrown his name in the hat.
Williams currently serves as the TNA Champion, juggling between Total Nonstop Action and NXT brands.
The 31-year-old faced NXT Champion Oba Femi in a “Winner Take All” match on September 23, which witnessed the invasion of various TNA talent, ending in a No Contest.
Trick recently appeared on The Hall of Fame podcast, where he discussed the opportunity of facing John Cena in the latter’s final WWE match.
I can’t think of one man better for the job than me. We’re talking about a guy who put the business on his back for a long time, and his last match should be with someone who can handle that weight, who can handle that pressure.
If we’re talking about the future, the guy who will carry the brand for a long time, 10+ years in the game, I am that guy. Undoubtedly, undeniably, I am the future of WWE. So, if John Cena wants to pass the torch forward to a guy who can carry the weight, Trick Williams is that guy. Get some.
