Surprising WWE Legend Suggested For John Cena’s Final Opponent
New names continue to emerge as far as John Cena’s final WWE opponent goes.
Cena has four appearances remaining in his retirement tour. He will be at the November 10 taping of RAW in Boston, Massachusetts, his hometown.
It will be followed by the November 17 episode in New York, which will be his last appearance on the brand.
Subsequently, he will compete at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 19 and his final match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII.
John Cena’s most recent match was at WWE Crown Jewel, where he faced AJ Styles. The 48-year-olds put on a match for the ages, but it was ultimately the 17-time World Champion who secured the victory.
Since then, a host of names have emerged as his final opponent, including the likes of Gunther and Dominik Mysterio.
Meanwhile, RAW and SmackDown will host a 16-man “Last Time is Now” tournament, whose winner will challenge Cena in Washington, DC, on December 13.
Rey Mysterio Emerges As John Cena’s Final Match Contender In WWE
Rey Mysterio made his much-anticipated return to WWE on November 3, where he confronted his son, Dominik.
The 50-year-old former World Champion had been away due to an injury he suffered during a SmackDown taping in April.
During a recent appearance on The Coach & Bro podcast, Jonathan Coachman asked Tommy Carlucci who he deemed as a believable opponent that could impress against John Cena in his last match.
Personally, I think him and Rey Mysterio can have a great match. Rey is a Hall of Famer. They’ve had history before, and by the way, that name pops. I mean, when you tell me my last match is Cena and Rey Mysterio, that makes me say, “Holy sh*t again. What are they gonna do?” Cuz some of these other guys, I can’t see any NXT guys getting in there, cuz it’s not a pop for me…It’s about name and popularity, and star power. If you told me Cena and Rey Mysterio, I would go to that match. [27:57 onwards]
