Saudi WrestleMania Could Be The Greatest In History, Says WWE Legend
In September, WWE and Triple H officially announced Saudi Arabia as the host of WrestleMania 43.
The 2027 event will be the first “Show of Shows” to move out of North America since debuting in 1985.
Since the announcement was made, fans have expressed their disappointment, leveling allegations of the promotion selling out to Saudi money.
At the WWE-AAA Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas, fans were recorded on video chanting, “You sold out,” after a vignette of WrestleMania 43 was aired.
Fans in Perth, Australia, recently echoed similar sentiments as they heckled Triple H during the Crown Jewel post-show.
Despite the negativity surrounding it, a WWE legend believes that the event in Saudi Arabia has the potential to become the greatest in history.
John Bradshaw Layfield appeared on Something to Wrestle, believing that the Kingdom would have something big planned to change fans’ perspective, even bringing back a few legends of the sport.
I think fans will come around, and I think people have their own opinions about what it is. I think people are gonna see it and realize this is a heck of an event, and I think fans are really gonna enjoy. And I really believe that when you get about a day or two from it, all of this ‘you sold out’ stuff is gonna die, and the hype of the event is gonna take over, and people are just gonna sit there and wanna watch it.
And when they’re watching it, you’re not gonna hear a word of it. And I think the show’s gonna be that good. This could be the greatest WrestleMania in history because of what they’re gonna do, being the first one in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi WrestleMania Was The Natural Step, Says Nick Khan
WWE is doing everything in its power to reiterate its stand on hosting WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia.
While appearing on the recent JOY Forum, World Wrestling Entertainment President Nick Khan claimed that hosting ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment’ in the Kingdom was the natural step.
It was a natural next step for us. In WWE, we realized a number of years ago that we can’t simply pipe American product out globally and hope to be a global product. You actually have to have boots on the ground. If you look at what we’ve done with our Premium Live Events over the last few years, about half of those now take place outside of the United States.
