Sami Zayn Admits Some People In WWE Didn’t Want Him In Bloodline Storyline

Sami Zayn has reflected on the epic Bloodline storyline by revealing that there were some people in WWE that didn’t want him to be part of it.

For the past year, The Bloodline storyline has dominated WWE. Sami Zayn became integrated into it around this time a year ago and over the next six months, his role in the group grew to where he was accepted as an “Honorary Uce” by the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns – the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Zayn, along with The Usos and Solo Sikoa, was part of a dominant group under the guidance of Reigns and the “Wise Man” Paul Heyman. The group’s biggest triumph was at Survivor Series last November when they won a WarGames match when Zayn once again proved his loyalty to the group.

At the Royal Rumble in January, Sami Zayn refused Roman’s order to attack a helpless Kevin Owens and when Zayn was yelled at, he delivered the first blow by hitting Reigns with a chair shot to the back. Zayn took an ass kicking after that, but his popularity grew with the fans because he stood up to Reigns.

Since then, Zayn reunited with his best friend Kevin Owens to main event WrestleMania 39 Saturday by beating The Usos in a spectacular tag team match to become the WWE Tag Team Champions.

This past Saturday at Night of Champions, Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens beat Reigns & Sikoa in a title defense because Jimmy Uso of The Usos had enough of Reigns, so he delivered two superkicks to Tribal Chief.

During an appearance on WWE’s After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves & Kevin Patrick, Sami Zayn asked if there were people in WWE that didn’t want him involved in this storyline.

“Yeah, there were and I can’t mention names (he laughs). There were doubts as to whether it should even happen I think, even in its early infancy stage of it all.”

“So for me, actually going back to a question you asked earlier about impatience, there was a point when I was actually very impatient with the storyline and I was almost ready to abandon ship and just say, ‘Okay, we need to start moving on in a different direction if this isn’t gonna go where it needs to go’, because for me, the whole thing, it all hinged on me and Roman getting together finally and the swerve being like, ‘Oh, Roman likes this guy.'”

As he continued, Sami Zayn made the point that the key thing with the story was that Reigns accepted Zayn because that drove the whole story.

“You expect him to not like him, but then he meets him and he likes him. That’s the money of the whole thing is that he buys in. Roman drives the whole story. It works very well even if he’s not there, but because he’s the main antagonist, his decision at the next point in the story is going to drive and propel the story in whatever direction it’s going, so you need him involved.”

Tonight on WWE Smackdown, Roman Reigns will celebrate more than 1,000 days as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, but things may not go smoothly due to the issues within The Bloodline.
